[SOLVED] Unable to install any windows updates - manual install or otherwise

Hello,


I'm working on a machine after removing a significant amount of malware and am unable to install any windows updates at the moment. The only ones successfully installed from Windows Update since the removal of Malware were driver-based updates. I am seeing this in CheckSUR log files that I ran most recently:

CBS.zip - Google Drive here is my CBS folder. I was able to repair 3 of the 15 errors by using Avast Uninstall Utility | Download aswClear for Avast Removal

You may close this thread - I was able to get it resolved by removing all traces of Avast from the winsxs folder (then running sfc) and taking ownership of some keys in hklm_components and adding some dword values from a working machine to fix the KB3042058 CBS registry errors. Windows Updates are now working again! Learned a lot from this forum, so thank you for that! Take care.
