Hi guys,

First of all : sorry for my bad english but french is my mother tongue (I live in Belgium).
I am struggling with "security monthly quality rollup" for weeks without being able to make it work on my Win 7 64 bits desktop at home.
I always get an 80004005 error when trying to install those updates (note that other updates are being installed without any problem).
I had the problem to install KB4284826 and now KB4338818.
I tried to run [FONT=&quot]WindowsUpdate.diagcab that give an error ([/FONT][FONT=&quot]Windows Update error 0x8024800a(2018-06-27-T-09_32_29A) Not fixed[/FONT][FONT=&quot]).
I tried [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64.msu fix
I tried CHKDSK + SFC /SCANNOW
I tried option 16 of [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Tweaking Windows Repair portable
I tried a batch file that suppress the SoftwareDistribution directory
I tried to install KBs manually
But none of the above worked :-(
I always get error 80004005 :

I can post the CBS.log file if you want but it is bigger than 100 Mb right now !

Thanks in advance for your help ;-)

Install Update with DISM

  1. Download the update MSU here: http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._59cf25073f2e8615b01d9719a0a2e2a0a9a92937.msu
  2. Copy the MSU file to a convenient location (such as C:\temp).
  3. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  5. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    cd C:\temp

replace C:\temp with your path if different

    expand windows6.1-kb4015549-x64_59cf25073f2e8615b01d9719a0a2e2a0a9a92937.msu -f:* C:\temp

    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\temp\windows6.1-kb4015549-x64.cab

  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)?

  7. Make sure to allow the computer to restart if prompted.

If you receive any other message:
  8. Right-click on the Command Prompt window and click Select All, this will invert all of the colours by selecting the text, now press enter. All of this text is now copied.
  9. Paste (Ctrl+V) it into your next post.
  10. Zip and attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

I was not prompted to restart the PC but I did it manually (Start -> Restart).

After the reboot, Windows update (KB4338818) was proposed again and I clicked on Install, then, after few minutes :

You'll find the latest CBS log here : CBS.zip

Hmm...

Let's try uninstalling the update instead.

Code:
DISM.exe /Online /Remove-Package /PackagePath:C:\temp\windows6.1-kb4015549-x64.cab

Zip and attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log once complete.

Glad to hear it! :thumbsup2:
