I've been having trouble with Windows 8.1. I've had trouble with the Windows utilities such as USB error checking, system restore, .msi file installation, Microsoft 2005-2012 C++ Redistributable configuration, and so much more. Here's what I mean.
USB Error Checking - A USB3 HDD I use was plugging itself in and plugging itself out rapidly while I was writing a file to it. Windows told me to do a error check, and it would bring up the little window with the status bar, but it would never move. I let it sit and "scan" for about 2 hours and nothing. I decided to take it over to my school laptop and BOOM. Fixed the HDD instantly.
System Restore -When I go to the System Restore menu within the control panel, it just sits there doing nothing. I'll click on "Create System Restore Point" and there it sits. It does absolutely NOTHING.
.msi File Installation, Microsoft 2005-2012 C++ Redistributable Configuration - Again, it does nothing. It just sits.
I ran /sfc scannow and it told me I had corrupt system files and wasn't able to fix them. These were the two strings I found that displayed a corruption;

Printers?? This isn't Vista...
Jokes aside, I really need some help on here. I've been getting so so so sick of Windows not working correctly. I've used the build in "restart" tool that Windows 8.1 gives for reinstalling Windows, and I still have this issue. I've seen some posts about a file called "SFCFix.exe" and with the whole paranoia-inducing sticky located on the top of every post, I was hoping someone can help me with a copy and see if I can fix my Windows machine :frown6::frown6:. I can't even get VirtualBox to install to try out Ubuntu. Please help!!
My processor is a AMD Athlon X4 750K on the Asrock FM2A88X Extreme6+. Shipped with the stock BIOS of 1.30. BIOS 3.- is out now. Since it says it's a "Architecture Issue" that SFC is hinting at, do you think that updating the BIOS would help? I know I don't have a virus on my system, because i've scanned with Malwarebytes and it says my system is clean.
