Hello,

I have tried to follow the steps to resolve the windows update KB4534310 with error 8024200D. As per Microsoft, the prerequisite for KB4534310 is to download the March 12, 2019 servicing stack update (SSU) (KB4490628) from Microsoft Update Catalog.

I downloaded KB4490628, but it said that this is already installed in the system. I checked and found the update in the Installed update section but with a different date July 10, 2019.

The next step was to download latest SHA-2 update (KB4474419) released September 10, 2019.

I downloaded KB4474419, but it said that this is already installed in the system. I checked and found the update in the Installed update section but with a different date June 10, 2019.

The next step was to, after installing the items above, install the latest SSU KB4536952.

I did not download it as it was already installed in my PC dated March 14, 2020.

After following all these instructions I downloaded KB4534310 from Microsoft Update Catalog and tried to install but it failed with an error code 80070002.

I also tried to install KB4054518 but this also failed with an error code 80070002.

For error code 80070002, I searched Microsoft and followed this link:

Fix Windows Update errors

In this article the second step was to:

Rename software distribution backup folder

net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
ren %systemroot%\softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.bak
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
net start bits
net start wuauserv

ren %systemroot%\softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.bak

The procedure did not solve the problem. When I rebooted the pc, I could not see any of the updates. The update status said, Never checked for updates. My question is where does all the updates go after renaming the folder and if at all it is there can I view them again. Although all my Installed updates are there.

Please note when I did

ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak

The system said access denied.

The third step in the article was to download the most recent SSU KB4523206 after changing certain Windows update settings.

I downloaded KB4523206 but when I tried to install it said that your PC does not need this.

The fourth step in the article was to Reset or reinstall Windows. I stopped and did not proceeded further.

After doing all this I restarted my pc and checked for Windows update and found that these updates have failed:

KB40545188024200DImportant
KB45343108024200DImportant
KB45396018024200D(optional)

I also ran sfc /scannow - did not find any integrity violations.

Tried to run SURT, but when I click on the download link in the Microsoft catalog link for win 7, 64 bit, it gives a choice of multiple links. I closed it and did not download SURT

Please suggest what to do now. Looking for a quick reply.

Thanks,

Hello and welcome,

Tried to run SURT, but when I click on the download link in the Microsoft catalog link for win 7, 64 bit, it gives a choice of multiple links. I closed it and did not download SURT
Download SURT for your system. (Windows 7 SP1 x64)

Thanks for the response.

When I am downloading SURT a selection of 24 files is coming. I am sending you an attached file on whats happening after I click download. Please check the file and tell me how to download SURT. Should I select all these 24 files individually or do a control A and Save as. Although when I select all files and do Save As only one file gets selected, out of 24. Also, google says file cannot be downloaded securely. Please tell me how to download SURT.

In your first post you mentioned Windows 7, 64bits
In your screenshot the CheckSur links are for Windows 7 32 bits.
In my previous post I have included the downloadlink for Windows 7 64bits. Does that work ?

The link, which you gave is not working.

Yes, I clicked the wrong CheckSur link.

I have found the link for Win7*64 but that is also giving the same kind of 24 files choice as mentioned in my screenshot. Please suggest how should I download.

The link, which you gave is not working.
Strange, the link does work here. Which browser do you use ?

I have found the link for Win7*64 but that is also giving the same kind of 24 files choice as mentioned in my screenshot. Please suggest how should I download.
Select the file checksurpackage_f3f05923c10e732ff623bbb88cbdb4846b657a7f.exe

This time clicked on the checksur link in Ms catalogue and did a save as and downloaded the file to my desktop. Double clicked on it and files started extracting and then nothing happened. Dont know what to do ? Also, I did not got my answer for this

Also I am using the latest version of google chrome.

I downloaded the file with the latest version of Chrome without any problems. I did not get the red exclamation mark as shown in your screenshot.
Use another browser to download the file.

I tried with IE version 11. Once I click browse nothing happens. See the screenshot. Dont know what to do?

In Chrome as mentioned in my previous mail, I discarded the red mark by keeping it. As during downloading 2 options came one to discard another to keep. I selected keep. The http has a 's' missing in chrome. Was it wrong to continue?

For some reason IE11 asks for a folder where to put the downloaded file. Select your desktop and continue.

I can only select desktop if the browse button directs me to that. I wrote in my previous mail, Once I click browse nothing happens. See the above screenshot.

Do you have any security tools installed ?
Reset the internet options in IE11. Follow the instructions here under How to reset Internet Explorer to its Default Settings (Help Guide)

I have reset internet options in IE11 but the problem persists, click browse and nothing happens. I am using Malwarebytes premium trial, another 7 days are left in that. MSE is also another security tool which came with my PC. Do I still need to download Hitman Pro and Zemana Antimalware Free.

Malwarebytes is free to use after the trail period. You just need to scan manually.
I never asked you to download Hitman Pro and Zemana Antimalware Free.

Step 1:
  1. Click the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.

    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
Note: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Filedropper or One Drive or WeTransfer and just provide the download link.

Step 2:
  1. Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:
64-bit: Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
  2. Right-click to run the tool as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  3. Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
  4. Press the Scan button.
  5. Please wait for the tool to finish. It will produce two logfiles called FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should be the desktop)
  6. Post the logfiles FRST.txt and Addition.txt as attachment in your next reply.

  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  2. Note: Move the file C:\Users\lenovo\Downloads\FRST64.exe to your desktop. Do NOT create a shortcut!
  3. Right-click on FRST64.exe on your desktop and select "Run as administrator".
  4. Press the Fix button.
  5. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  6. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  7. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  8. Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.
