Tuning up my Windows 7 64 bit system

Hi guys

I have encountered a few glitches in recent times on this system.
Yesterday it would not load USB sticks, I fixed it by running Tweaking.com\Windows Repair All in One carefully.

But I'd like some solid advice on making sure its all as healthy as it can be.
I do a lot of video production on it.

Are there any trusted tune up programmes out there or a step by step sort out?
Quite concerned about that update to fix CPUs it really slowed this system so I removed it.

There aren't really any "tune-up" programs out there, that are either trustworthy or will actually do anything to improve the performance of your system.

Have you checked which processes are booting at start and how many programs are running in the background?

There are only 2 that I trust and that are fairly highly held - Wise & Tweaking. Glary is also pretty good. But in general you need to be careful . In that vein, I agree with BlueRobot - there are several TuneUps that will trash your machine. Most are snake oil. MOST! And again - if you use one - use with care. Always create a Restore Point before running one. Also whatever you do - STAY from Registry crap. Way too much risk.

Other than the USB, you did not indicate what "glitches" you are concerned with.

BTW - a solution to USB problems is often fixed by moving to a different port. Also, USB ports on the back often work netter than ports on the front of a machine.

Finally - almost everything you can do with a "tune up" app can be done manually. May yake awhile, but in the process you will learn.:r1:
