Hi All,

Just ran into an issue with my Windows 7 PC with the error message . . "This copy of Windows is Not Genuine"

Attached ZIPPED copies of the MSDiag report and CBS.log files for review and any assistance (if possible).

Thanks and gratitude in advance.

Have you entered the product key which came with the DVD/USB? You mentioned that you purchased the Windows 7 Media package? Could you please clarify what you mean here?

Receiving error message that my Genuine copy of Windows 7 is not Genuine.
I have a valid and paid for Product Code and OEM Windows 7 Media Package.
Receiving error code when attempting to validate licensing
Hardware: Custom Build, checked and verified zero(0) hardware defects or issues;
Completed all possile attempts to fix / repair / check system.
Where did you purchase this copy from?

Okay, I assume you purchased a product code for Windows Media Center and are attempting to activate your operating system (Windows 7 Professional) with that product key. The reason you're getting that error message is because you haven't activated your copy of Windows 7 Professional. You need to purchase a separate key for that which is probably going to be difficult to find these days since Windows 7 LTS ended back in January 2020.

Apologies for the confustion I paid for the DVD (the media package) with the COA sticker and genuine Microsoft OEM labeling on it from Tigerdirect when they had a brick and motar retail location (many, many years ago) :-).

Have you entered the product key which came with the DVD/USB? Yes

NOTE - Windows 7 was 100% full activated up until last week when I noticed the error message on the Desktop

Ran all scripts to reset key, re-arm key, RESET SoftwareDistribution folder, etc. All result in same error when attempting to activate / re-activate product key.

I find it odd that is no licensing information at all within your MGADiag report, have you tried installing the product key which came with system builder disc from a command prompt using the following command:

Rich (BB code):
slmgr /ipk {product key}

Have you changed any hardware within the past week or so?

slmgr /ipk {product key}

(Triniman) Yes, tried this method to install the product key which came with the system builder disc from a command prompt, several times.
Zero(0) hardware changes within the last week or so. Same hardware for the last 5+ years.

(Triniman) No problem, ran the MGADiag again. Results attached in zip file.

*UPDATE !*

Have you tried the following - Error code 0x8007000D when trying to activate a Windows server 2008 or Windows 7 machine using any type of product key.
(Triniman) Yes, when I attempt to follow the instructions, manually, I receive "Access Denied" error. Additionally the "Fix It" link is dead and re-directs to Microsoft's Bing page.

(Triniman) found this workaround for the "Access Denied" Error. Microsoft Social Technet

Ran the following command and updated the registry permissions for SYSTEM.

psexec -i -d -s c:\windows\regedit.exe

Rebooting system, will provide an update once I have more info.
