Hello everyone. I am deep despair right now. I have tried literally every solution to reset and restore Windows 10 update but it simple does not work. I even tried resetting/ reinstalling my Windows but that fails to do that as well. I tried using SFC/scannow and I was able to fix errors but for some reason windows update is still not fixed. I even downloaded Standalone Updates from Microsoft catalog but they wont install. None of Windows updates seem to be installing.
Please help?

I'd like to take a look at the components hive.

Please manually upload the components hive by following these instructions:

Upload Components Hive
  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
  2. Right-click on the current COMPONENTS file and select copy
Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
  3. Right-click on your Desktop and select paste
  4. Right-click on the COMPONENTS file on your Desktop and select Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder
  5. Upload the zip from your Desktop to a file sharing service such as DropBox, OneDrive, SendSpace, etc. and include the link with your reply.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

View attachment SFCFix.zip

Both the problems so far have been caused by bitflips in the registry. This usually indicates a problem with RAM.

Please follow the instructions here to test the memory in your computer: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutorials/3909-test-ram-memtest86.html

Please find this. I have not been able to run MemTest but would do soon

Will update you about memtest results tomorrow.

Just FYI

Today I was able to install "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3176493)" which was previously showing error. Super thanks for that.

But I tried downloading Windows 10 anniversary update but it failed to install with 0x80004005. Something has not fixed completely I assume.

Thanks

Ok. Please try the upgrade again. When it fails, zip and attach C:\$Windows.~bt\Sources\Panther\SetupAct.log

Please try the Media Creation Tool here: Windows 10
Click the blue 'Download Tool Now' button and run the downloaded file.

You will need an empty 8GB USB flash drive.

Once the installation USB has been created, run Setup from that drive. Be sure to choose the option to keep your files, apps, settings. etc.
Choose the option that does NOT download updates.

If the installation fails, zip and attach SetupAct.log as before.
