Thanks a lot for all of your help Jared. What a great forum this is. :) Day two of the new processor being in and it seems to be BSOD free so far (fingers crossed).:thumbsup2: However, since replacing the processor and the stock HSF with the new CPU/HSF Intel sent, whilst powering on the PC (after POST), the CPU fan spins up very fast/loudly and lasts for about four seconds before reverting back to the near silent speed. Just a minor problem but somewhat annoying considering it wasn't doing it before. I am wondering if it is a problem with the fan as I've tried resetting the BIOS and also reseating the processor (even though temps are fine). Last edited: Aug 19, 2015

If it's that annoying you can always buy an aftermarket cooler, but the choice is yours. Glad to hear the BSODs have stopped. Any other issues let us know. Last edited: Aug 23, 2016

However, it's been a year since the CPU replacement and this is the first instance of it happening. There haven't been any recent changes and all drivers are up to date. Another faulty CPU? What are the chances? I have uploaded the memory dump file.

Default, Windows Defender - with occasional scans using Malware Bytes Yes but only for work purposes. Very rarely connected on this PC and the BSOD hasn't happened when I've been using it. No. Thanks, Liam Attachments SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip 472.1 KB · Views: 8 PerfMon Report.zip 157.3 KB · Views: 3

I also saw you are using "intel(r) extreme tuning utility", and if I'm not wrong it serves to overclock... Are you currently overclocking? Last edited: Aug 21, 2016

I installed this software ages ago to put the CPU under stress to see if it replicated this issue. It's the same BSOD error as previously when Jared diagnosed it as a bad CPU (GPU on die).

I did check on the Intel site but it didn't look newer to me. I also used their application which searches for updates and it didn't come up with any.

It's now doing that funny thing again too where it sometimes picks one monitor up as a 'Generic non PnP monitor'.
