Whenever i run the system restore tool, i get the alert that system restore did not complete successfully with two errors
the system restore failed to restore registry from restore point.
the system restore point was damaged or deleted while restoring.
i tried in safe mode, clean boot mode but it did not have any effect , and i am repeatedly getting the same error messages.
Ofcourse, i ran the tool sfc scannow
but, i did find some errors, but addressing them to this forum, i was clarified that it is windows bug
what is the alternative, except reinstall or repair.
sysnative thread link:[SOLVED] - sfcfix found 8 cert errors in checksur log. please fix it

Hi, As required i am enclosing the cbs.log for the current sfc scannow.]please let me know the fix

Hi, i think that softwaremaniac is indisposed. waiting for solution from him, hmm

@softwaremaniac

I apologise for the long delay; many of our WU helpers are usually very busy unfortunately. I've mentioned him in this post so he should get a notification.

I've moved this thread to the Windows Update forum so it might get more attention from our helpers.

Thanks.

Hello and welcome!

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named Bruce1270. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hi Jraju

I'll go over any questions you may have about the corruption once we have finished. :-)

Please do the following.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
Note: If the file is too large to upload, use a file sharing service like Sendspace and paste the link here.

Hi, buce, sorry lor late reply. i had seen your reply. but did not log on to pc for the past two days. Just now, logged in and posting this. Will send cbs.txt once scan is finished. thanks for all your help na di hope to get clarfications on your processes. thanks

Hi, i enclose the cbs.txt. there were so many entries, when i just open it to see.
mostly contain pending renames..
what i did was , i want to delete the previous log and run sfc scannow.
i disabled windows modular service, deleted the contents of the cbs.log and then started the serviceand then went to command prompt as admin and issued the sfc scanow.
the log files is enclosed
