This is my first time here, so please let me know (gently) if I'm doing anything incorrectly.
I've been running Windows 7 (due to wanting to preserve Windows Media Center) on a machine basically used as a home file server for several years without issue.
About a week ago, I began seeing system hangs once every couple of days -- some overnight, some during the day. The screen was black, and connectivity to the system over our home network (wired and wireless) was lost. Rebooting was the only way to get the system up.
Nothing showed up in the Event Viewer, no dumps were produced. I ran sfc, which reported corruption that it couldn't fix. Given the minimal capabilities of Win7 DISM for this kind of issue (no SCANHEALTH, etc.), I download and ran SFCFix: it detected three instances of corruption, all seemingly related to notepad. I inserted my Win7 installation CD when asked to do so, and the drive became active, but SFCFix indicated that it was unable to fix the corruption. I realize that this issue may have nothing to do with the problem that started me down this trail to begin with, but I'm trying to eliminate any symptoms I can before taking other measures. I have yet to run CHKDSK and MEMTEST. but will do so if nothing immediately comes to mind here.
I've attached the file generated by SFCFix, and would appreciate suggestions.
Thanks in advance!
