Hello,

I recently ran into some problems that caused me to run an SFC followed by DISM. This claimed the corruption was fixed, but the problems persisted. I then found out in a roundabout way that it was related to Fast Start having been enabled in a recent update and that I hadn't actually been restarting my computer. Original problem now fixed... but the corruption returned. :(

Here is my SFCFix text:
SFCFix version 2.4.3.0 by niemiro.

CBS.zip seems to be a bit large, so will upload it in a minute.View attachment SFCFix.txt

I think I botched the upload there. Did it the first time without the SFCFix.txt attached, so attached the copy and ran the script again. Only I didn't realize that the script had replaced the SFCFix.txt file, so the attached file is from running the script to upload the CBS.zip. /sigh

Please let me know if I need to do something to fix this, or if you can find the file.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. The errors that you have are a known issue and Microsoft is working on a fix. They don't cause any Windows Update issues so you can safely ignore them. More info on this is below.

This update contains the following two manifests that are occasionally updated by the Diagnostic Tracking Service:

telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json
utc.app.json

The two files are marked as static files in the update. When an advanced user runs the System File Checker Tool (sfc.exe), the files are unintentionally flagged as corrupted. There is no impact or corruption on a device that is running this update, and this issue will be fixed in a later service update.

Oh, wow, thanks for that. Sorry to have wasted your time with this.

On a tangentially related note. When did Fast Start get set as default for a Shutdown in Power Options? That turned out to be the root of the original problems I was experiencing, as I believed I had been restarting, when I was in fact not. Seems like a rather terrible thing to randomly make default. Especially since a ton of users don't leave their computers on overnight and have gotten used to the idea that shutting down their system is the same as a reboot. Or am I one of the few people who still thinks this way?

Yeah, I knew about hybrid shutting down. But I'm pretty sure that I had unchecked all those options. This was an option under Shutdown settings that says Turn on fast startup, that I am quite sure was not previously checked. Since shutdown has been working as a restart for me for quite some time. Was just really odd.

Anyway thanks for the help.
