Oky doky, welp, I have been having issues for since I don't know when since I just realized this like last month with optional features being blank. Then I stumbled upon this SFCFix.exe tool and ran it.

Code:

Up until this most recent Security update I was installing updates fine. I then went through BlackViper's Windows 7 Service list and reset all to their default settings. I ran the SFCFix.exe after a reboot. I was reading another thread on here with this type of thing and decided to post this... I will try and run the System Update Readiness Tool in a bit and post the CBS.log.

This is looking like it could be a pain?

Literally the thing has been stuck at Initializing Installation... with no progress bar for like 2 hours. I went to check the log file and this is what I see and Googling one of these seems like a whole can of worms. Unless they are in the winsxs folder or whatever for some reason? I dunno, I am tired right now, this has been like the 4th attempt to get a successful running of this tool.

Remove Update Manually
1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter
wusa /uninstall /KB:4054518

4. Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

I have been in the process of slowly upgrading my desktop and decided rather than buy a new SSD... I would just clone the one I got for my laptop to its old HDD and use that for my desktop. I doubt that this has caused any file issues as it went very smoothly.

Let's check:
GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:

For now I only want a screenshot of you Attributes tab.

  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Execute gsmartcontrol.exe; Let the install complete and launch the programme.
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;

I had during this post actually decided since I brought my desktop up, to actually clone my Windows 7 install on the laptop to its old HDD. Which now, Windows has been giving an alert that the hard drive has been reporting failure. Sooo... I dunno, this is is issue was going on prior to the clone, but I like barely use it now that I got a new graphics card.

Thanks for your help on this issue, though.

I am more concerned with the new issue I posted where this same thing has happened.

I will re-run SFCFix.exe as I did recently get different results.

Some very... generic looking errors causing blank feature list and failed updates?
