Hi,

when running sfc /scannow it detects corruption that is unable to fix, dism also is unable to fix it. Running windows setup to try to upgrade and fix the problems also gives error after the second reboot. Running sfcfix gives an error "SFCFix version 3.0.2.1 by niemiro has encountered an unhandled exception."
I'm attaching the log files for your review if you can help.
Thanks

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

The fix is too large to attach so I've uploaded it here: SFCFix.zip

Step 1. Download

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

You're welcome. But please run also the System File Checker and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
SFC /Scannow

run sfc /scannow 3 times and got the below:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.

is it normal?

Please reboot the system and run the System File Checker again and attach a new copy of the CBS log.

This time, SFC replaced some other files from the store. So please run SFC /Scannow again, please run also the following tool.

Download
520c07ffc7e11-CrystalDiskInfo-Canned.png
Crystal DiskInfo and save it to your Desktop.
  • Run the installer to install the program.
  • When finished, openthe installed program by double clicking on it.
    • Good - There are no problems found, the drive is working properly.
    • Caution - The drive have some problems. (which indicates a drive that you should most likely be thinking about backing up and replacing.)
    • Bad - This usually indicates a drive that’s dead or near death. (! - Back up all important data as soon as possible.)
  • Resize the window so that all information is visible.
  • Take a screenshot of what you see and post it in your next reply.

This time SFC completed succesfully as it seems, what the result / message when it finished?

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

run file checker 3 times and still the same.

In all cases, I'll try to upgrade to Windows 11 this afternoon as previous trials were failing mostly due the original store corruption. If the upgrade succeeds, I'll run the checker again and post the results.
I have to report that some issues were fixed like the server manager not working and other tools from the rsat, they are working fine now.
Thanks for your help.
