Still "not responding" but no corrupt files?

I did the sfc scannow and it showed corrupt files. I downloaded the suggested repair tool and it seemed to work. I ran the scan again and it shows no corrupt files, however when I'm still in IE the pages freeze up and it says msn.com not responding, or whichever page I'm on, not responding. Once in awhile it says there is a long running script. Any ideas on this?
Thank you!:banghead:

Do you by chance have the log for sfc? If you do please post it.

Is this only a problem in IE or Chrome/Firefox too?

Just as a shot in the dark, try this:
Click the Gear at the top right in IE, Click Internet Options, Advanced Tab > Restore Advanced Settings

Then exit out of IE, open it back up and check to see if that might have fixed your issue.

That was after the scan, and using the tool to repair it. I can re-scan for the sfc/scannow results. I tried your suggestion with no luck. It is only in IE. Google chrome seems to be fine. Thanks for the help.

Hello,

First, lets try and clear out the old TEMP files that are sitting on your computer

Temp File Cleaner (TFC) by OldTimer
  1. Click Here to download TFC save to your desktop
  2. Make sure you have saved any open documents before continuing, as TFC will close any open windows and reboot is require after completion.
  3. Go to your desktop and double click on TFC.exe
  4. Click on the Start button to begin the cleaning
  5. When it finishes it should automatically reboot your computer, if it doesn't then please manually reboot to complete the cleaning process

Please go Here and download MiniToolBox and save this file to your desktop.

Go to your desktop and launch MiniToolBox.exe - > Select the following options:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of HOSTS
  • List IP Configuration
  • List Winsock Entries

Press Go

Once finished a notepad file called Result.txt will open. Please post the contents back into this thread.

**** End of log ****

I did everything. Hopefully it makes a difference. Thank you. I appreciate the help.

Well, no change. My option is to just run Google Chrome. I'm just more familiar with IE. I could download a few 9mm rounds into it. That may solve my dilemma.

You can try backing up Internet Explorer with a program like backrex Download Free Demo - BackRex Software and download the last one which is free and only for IE. You're simply going to run it and export your IE settings. After that, you can uninstall IE (deleting all user settings in the process), reinstall it and then you will go back to backrex and import your files back into IE. Install or uninstall Internet Explorer - Windows Help

That's one way to solve it :grin1: or could you please do this:

Please download Autoruns from Here

Once downloaded open Autoruns click on File -> Save -> Save the type as a .txt document and upload the report to your next post
