Hello,

I was previously on bleepingcomputer.com as I was having issues with my computer and my anti-malware kept finding suspected malware. After following their instructions the issue turned out to be Google Chrome sync triggering the issue. However in the log produced by FRST it kept reporting that the SQL master database was corrupted. When I inquired with the person helping me they referred me to this forum as what I was asking was outside their level of expertise.

Is the computer still infected or corrupted? - Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Help here is a link to the previous forum to help understand what has been done to the computer already.

Below are the errors that I am asking about, as this issue is also stopping me from installing a SQL update (KB5021037).

Error: (09/23/2023 07:31:23 PM) (Source: MSSQL$TEW_SQLEXPRESS) (EventID: 3417) (User: )
Description: Cannot recover the master database. SQL Server is unable to run. Restore master from a full backup, repair it, or rebuild it. For more information about how to rebuild the master database, see SQL Server Books Online.

Error: (09/23/2023 07:31:23 PM) (Source: MSSQL$TEW_SQLEXPRESS) (EventID: 912) (User: )
Description: Script level upgrade for database 'master' failed because upgrade step 'msdb110_upgrade.sql' encountered error 200, state 7, severity 25. This is a serious error condition which might interfere with regular operation and the database will be taken offline. If the error happened during upgrade of the 'master' database, it will prevent the entire SQL Server instance from starting. Examine the previous errorlog entries for errors, take the appropriate corrective actions and re-start the database so that the script upgrade steps run to completion.

Along with the requested logs for this forum I will include the latest FRST and Addition logs incase any information stored within them is useful in identifying a fix for this issue. I use this computer daily for school so I appreciate all help in getting it back to running correctly, thank you.

Hi, robo_623.

Thanks for posting here. Hopefully, someone will assist you, providing a solution to your issue. Please, be patient, since this forum has really a lot of work and the experts are extremely busy. I'll be watching.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

1. Have you recently upgraded this system to Windows 11?
2. It seems you're still using SQL Server 2014 which is a part of Solid Works 2022, can you confirm that?

Please be aware that SQL Server 2014 is not supported on Windows 11 and/or Server 2022 systems. SQL Server in Windows operating system - SQL Server

Not recently I upgrade the computer from Win10 to 11 about 2-3 years ago.

I was running SolidWorks on this computer until recently as I purchased a render machine last year, that could handle the program easier. I did see that Win11 only supports SQL 2017+ when i was looking at what the database issue could be. I had thought that it was left over from when I upgraded the machine a few years ago.

Hi,

So if I understand correctly, SQL Server 2014 is no longer in use (or needed) on this system?

If it was only needed for SolidWorks then yes, I would say it's not needed anymore on this computer

Hi,

So far as I can see, yes. If you no longer need those programs I would remove them, then KB5021037 will no longer be offered either.
Code:
S2 MSSQL$TEW_SQLEXPRESS; C:\ProgramData\SOLIDWORKS Electrical\MSSQL12.TEW_SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe [366520 2022-04-22] (Microsoft Corporation -> Microsoft Corporation)

What would be the safest way to remove them from the computer? From what I can see on the Addition log i uploaded, I only have 1 2019 SQL installed and everything else is 2014 or earlier. So I'd like to remove them all without upsetting the computer more. I have also tried uninstalling the SolidWorks data left on the computer but when I try it tells me that it cannot access the files to uninstall it.

Should I also install the SQL's from 2017+? I'm also experiencing issues with a UEFI and Radio Monitor driver/firmware issue that seems to be related to the battery in the tablet of my SB2 not wanting to charge. I'm hoping that the battery issue is related to the drivers/firmware not being able to update due to the current SQL issues.

No the install file was removed when I purchased a computer that could handle modeling ~1 year ago, and the license was transferred over to that machine.

Then I would suggest to leave SolidWorks as it is, and only remove all the SQL server versions.

I'm getting this error message when trying to uninstall SQL 2014

------------------------------

SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

The specified directory, "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\", for the INSTALLSHAREDDIR parameter is not valid because this directory is compressed or is in a compressed directory. Specify a directory that is not compressed.

Error code 0x858C001E.

Those steps helped me uninstall the SQL servers, however after many restarts or full shutdowns and reboots the update continued to appear and kept notifying me since the SolidWorks files remained. So I ended up doing the last resort and reset the computer. Currently going through the process of reinstalling all the programs I had but the SQL issues are fixed which I confirmed with a FRST scan, after not seeing anymore update requests. Appreciate the help along the way.
