Hi

I have the same problem as Tom which you helped him with, but I couldn't download your file from dropbox (I know you said not to try - sorry). Can you help?

Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.

Save any open documents and close all open windows.

On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.

Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.

SFCFix will now process the script.

Upon completion, a files should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.

Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

Hi

I've been having trouble with windows update for nearly a year. It simply won't work. I get the same error message each time which is...

800F0900

but can't get any help from the Microsoft site that seems to work.

I have run the system update readiness tool and here are the CBS logs.

Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests
Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages
Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again
When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Try updating Windows and let me know how it goes. If any updates fail, let me know their name/KB number and the error code they fail with

Incredible. All working and it's now beavering away with updates. I can't believe how long it took me to track down a forum like this. Only did it in the end by learning about the CBS log, tracking the xml parse failure an then googling it - only 2 hits! Thanks so so much. It's cured my OCD with this issue. I don't know if it goes directly to you, but i will be making a small donation tomorrow.
