Hello, I have this problem and SUSPECT (but I might be wrong) it to be the cause of a number of annoying "kernel mode trap" blue screen errors on my windows 8.1 system (only because the system is brand new, the drivers updated, and this is the only cause I can think of).

Now, according to sfcfix (see attached log) the file I need replacing is "amd64_prncacla.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.16384";

HOWEVER after downloading the appropriate zip file from dropbox and dragging onto sfcfix.exe, sfcfix.exe does NOT recognize it saying the download is corrupt.

Obviously I re-downloaded from different browsers and tried several times but to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: GUIDE: CNBJ2530.DPB and prncacla.inf Corruptions - Windows 8/8.1

I thank all of you for the help!

However, this whole thing is still not working for me. I saved both files on the desktop again, disabled Comodo sandbox and defense, dragged the zip onto the exe, and still got the same message:

Code:
Checking for updates . . .
No new update is available at this time.

ERROR: Zip file is corrupt or unreadable. This may be due to a bad download.
Please re-download the zip file, try again, and see if the problem persists. If
it does, let your helper know as it may be that the upload is corrupt, and that
is something that only your helper can fix.

Press any key to exit . . .

Meanwhile the "unexpected kernel mode trap" bsod keeps appearing more and more frequently, basically every time I turn the pc on. I tried running the sfc /scannow command from boot, and it says that a repair is pending and to restart. However, upon restart, and back to boot command prompt, the same message is shown --so manual replacement is supposed to be the only way here.

Since the sfcfix thing isn't working for me, can you guys perhaps give also the more complicated work-around, of manually replacing these files perhaps in safe mode or command prompt?

Any clue on to solve this otherwise welcome... thanks!

Hi,

This is weird. Before I attempt a manual fix, could you try something.

Please download one of the SFCFix.zip file from here once more: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kn4umr9mn2v3xdy/SFCFix.zip

Once you have downloaded it, test it once more. If it doesn't work, please can you find the MD5 checksum of the file. This is a string of characters that will tell me if the file is actually downloading correctly. Use this side to find the MD5 checksum --> Online MD5|SHA1 Hash Generator For File And Text

It should match: 5E77265595A6307D9C001AE7BE831C0A if the file is not corrupt.

About the BSOD, this is unlikely the cause. I may hand you over to the BSOD experts after we have resolved this.

Stephen

Thank you Stephen! But... I hate to be that guy... I did like you told me, and the checksum is correct: but I still receive the same error message.

About the BSOD: to tell you the truth I suspect the two things are very much related because I am on a new system, all drivers updated etc...

In fact, after reading more about this file corruption on the internet, I realized it is connected to canon print drivers, so I did this:

I REMOVED FROM THE REGISTRY ALL ENTRIES RELATED TO A CANON PRINTER I HAD PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED AT WORK AND USED ONLY ONCE.

For some reason the uninstall for those drivers didn't work, but removing all the related entries in the registry (searching for "canon" in Registry workshop) seems to have worked:

NO MORE BSODs FOR ME!! Yay!!
(still knocking on wood...!)
