[SOLVED] Some files probably corrupted, unable to fix myself

Hello,

My system Windows 7 SP1, French has some errors. I can boot, but some programs either don't run at all without error or run with a message :

C:\Windows\system32\tapi32.dll n’est pas conçu pour s’exécuter sous Windows ou il contient une erreur. Installez à nouveau le programme à l’aide du support d’installation d’origine, ou bien contactez votre administrateur système ou le fournisseur du logiciel pour obtenir du support.

I remember having seen chkdsk running and identifying bad sectors.

I tried a repair install, but my CD does not have SP1 and I removed SP1 uninstall files. I tried to slipstream SP1 but the disk still tells me I'm trying to update a newer version of Windows and it stops.

Hunting for informations on the net, I found this forum and tried SFCFix. Here are the results:

Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages

Here are some more I found. Please do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
Save any open documents and close all open windows.
On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
SFCFix will now process the script.
Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Step#2 - System Update Readiness Tool (SUR)
1. Download and run the following file.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer yes. Note: It could take 15 minutes or more to run. Please don't cancel.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.
4. Please attach the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

The issue with tapi32.dll is still present.

Step#2 - SFC Scan

Click on the Start

button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please zip/attach this to your next post.

Now the tapi32.dll error is gone. I have been able to reinstall (once again) several other softwares and now they all work correctly.

So far, the problem seems to be fixed.

Verified. Corruption is resolved. It's always best to use the disk drive manufacturer's testing tools however not all of them have one. One that we use here that works on all disks is SeaTools. Anything else I can assist with or are you satisfied?
