Hi, I have gotten so frustrated and irritated lately!! My pc used to kick butt!! Lately it has been so slow and sluggish. I have gotten rid of every file and run disk clean up as much as I dare. Have I screwed it up somehow?? Can it be fixed??
When I Open Task Manager, there seems to be a high number of background tasks. I am suspicious of downloads, did I unknowingly put something on my computer? I end as many tasks as I think are safe, but before I can close the Manager, They have started themselves again. I did not buy this pc new. I inherited from a grandparent. He knew less than nothing about computers. This has Windows 8.1 with Apps. as far as I can tell he downloaded everything he thought he might like 5 months into the future. He had all kinds of tracking apps when I got it. I have tried my best to clean it up, but my knowledge is very limited. I would like to get rid of everything that is not needed, but I am so scared of getting rid of something important. I email A LOT!! I homeschool my kids so we use a curriculum called Switched on School house, music is a very big part of my life so I use amazon, and I like the Sims4. Other than that, I have no need for any of the apps, or anything else. Unless it runs one of those 4 things, I don't really have a need for it.
I have had problems with automatic maintenance, I see the icon in the bottom right corner and my pc gets slow like it is trying to run scheduled maintenance (even though it is scheduled to run at 2am when I am asleep) it seems it will try to run any time the computer is idle for more than 3-5 minutes. In the action center, under Maintenance, last run date is unknown. Under that it says "Windows was unable to determine the last date maintenance was run. There is a "START MAINTENANCE" in blue but when I click on it I get a window with a red X that says "Windows is unable to run Automatic Maintenance. The maintenance scheduler is unavailable." I tried to walk through the Windows help that was supposed to correct this problem, but that let to another set of problems that had to be corrected. Needless to say, I will not be going to their help forums again.
Any help will be much appreciated!!! Thank you!!!
I tried to run PERFMON System Health Report, I did it several times in case I was typing it wrong, but every time I got the same answer: Error: An error occurred while attempting to generate the report. The operator or administrator refused the request. View attachment SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip
