[SOLVED] Sleep Mode Freeze - Windows 7 x64 Pro

I have win 7 Pro x64. All updates current.

Recently installed a new piece of software relating to my smart phone (HTC One). The computer enters sleep mode ok, but when waking, screen freezes and and I have to shut down and reboot, at which time, the system "resumes", rather than "opens", returning me to the setting I had when sleep was entered.

I have tested this on two other Win7 x64 systems with same result, so I'm convinced this is a conflict between Win7 and my phone software. HTC says I'm the only one reporting this problem, so no help there, but I need to keep the smart phone software.

I am looking for suggestions on where/how I can trouble shoot my system to see if I can determine what is causing this.
Thanks

Hi,

Sleep issues are quite common relates to Performance plan settings. Could you please do the following?

  1. Open an elevated Command Prompt by right-clicking on CMD.EXE shortcut in your start menu and selecting Run As Administrator from the context menu.
  2. Run the following command:
    Code:
    POWERCFG /Q > %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\Power.txt
  3. Attach Power.txt file from your desktop here.
Thank you.

Here you go, and thanks for quick reply.

Are you sure this is a complete file? It seems that some lines at the end of the log are missing.

Yes-It appears quite a bit did not copy, so I'll try it again.

Thank you.

Please try running the following steps and see if the issue persists afterwards:

  1. Open an elevated Command Prompt by right-clicking on CMD.EXE shortcut in your start menu and selecting Run As Administrator from the context menu.
  2. Run the following commands:
    Code:
    POWERCFG -setacvalueindex 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e 238c9fa8-0aad-41ed-83f4-97be242c8f20 94ac6d29-73ce-41a6-809f-6363ba21b47e 000

  3. Reboot the computer.
Thank you.

Well I thought the problem was solved, but just discovered another glitch. Everything works fine EXCEPT when I leave my HTC one connected via usb and the Hot Sync Manager open. Then the screen freezes when trying to come out of sleep, but I can unfreeze it by unplugging the HTC one from the USB cable (leaving Hot Sync Mgr open), and then sleep mode works fine and system restarts without problem. Likewise, when I leave the phone connected via USB but Hot Sync Mgr not open, sleep mode works fine.

In other words, Sleep Mode works fine except when the phone is connected via USB AND Hot Sync Mgr is open.

This is not a major issue for me, as I almost never leave the phone connected via USB, (which is why it took so long to uncover the problem). But if you have any suggestions I welcome them.

Thanks

Some suggestions:

  • Try different USB ports (maybe some of them are powered or USB 3.0, while the others - aren't).
  • Make sure you are using the latest version of Hot Sync Manager (BTW, are you sure it is HotSync Manager and not HTC Sync Manager?).
  • If you installed some USB/Chipset drivers from your computer vendor, make sure they are up-to-date.

It is HTC Sync Mgr, not HotSync.
Tried different USB ports and USB cables, same result.
Checked my MB Mfg website (Asus) and all MB/USB drivers are current.

Probably so. Thanks.

BTW-the link you offered, is to a posting by me in Feb to that forum. Only got one response, which was not helpful, so came to you guys.
