Should I have a Microsoft Reserved Partition (MSR) on a non-system gpt disk?

This is a Win 10 64 system. The disk in question is only for data.

Really didn't know whether to put this here or in Software.

Thanks

It is not needed on secondary drives. But how big are you talking? Typically they are considerably less than 1Gb - hardly worth worrying about these days. While changing partitions is relatively safe these days, it is still very risky. A sudden power fluctuation, for example, in the middle of the process can render the hard drive unreadable. So if you still want to mess with the partitions, backup any data you don't want lost first.

Thanks for replying.

The drive is 2G and is primarily used for backups. My understanding of the reason for reserved partition is for protection from legacy tools that don't support GPT. I have no fears about messing with it but I don't want to do it if it is not necessary.

There is no real purpose for the reserved partition on secondary drives. As seen here it was primarily to support BitLocker encryption.
