Aloha, I'm working on a friend's computer. It had not been serviced for a while so I ran sfc /scannow which reported that there were errors that it was unable to fix. Downloaded and ran SFCFix.exe and it was only able to fix 1 of the problems. This is a Windows 8.1 64-bit machine. I don't think there are problems with Windows Update. Attaching docs per forum instructions.

The CBS.zip file appears to be too large. Tried following the instructions on how to upload large CBS.zip file, but I'm creating this post on a different machine than the one having the problem. I have the CBS.zip file from the machine that has the problem, is there a way to have SFCFix use it?

Mahalo,

Harry Z.

Aloha Aura,

Mahalo (thank you) for the sfcfix.zip file. Ran it and it seemed to work OK (see attachment SFCFix1.txt). But... a subsequent sfc /scannow still reports errors. And sfcfix is not able to correct them (see SFCFIX2.txt)

Alright follow the instructions below please.

Aloha Aura,

Same scenario: ran sfcfix.zip and it appeared to work (SFCFix3.txt), but a subsequent sfc /scannow shows errors and running sfcfix.exe does not resolve all the errors (SFCFix4.txt). I have my friends machine now so I will also try to upload the CBS logs.

Mahalo for your assistance!

These are new detections, these files weren't detected originally. Here's the new fix.

Mahalo for the quick reply!

Ran the sfcfix.zip, it appeared to run ok AND required a reboot (SFCFix5.txt)
Ran sfc /scannow, it found errors and also required a reboot
After reboot, ran sfc /scannow had errors it could not fix
Ran sfcfix.exe and it again found errors and could not fix them (SFCFix6.txt)

Attaching files.... Mahalo!

Alright follow the instructions below instead, it seems like the last fix didn't work, and it added two more files.

System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

Alright, follow the instructions below please.

Aloha Aura. Mahalo for the fix. Similar scenario as last time. Ran sfcfix.zip, then sfc /scannow, which reported it was unable to resolve some errors, and a reboot was required. Rebooted and ran sfc /scannow again, and it was unable to resolve the errors. Here's the SFCFix.txt:
