Hi,

I have been using Win7 x64 since 2011 or so and I remember hiding the update 'KB2882822' back in 2013, because it failed installing. With the Win10 offer not appearing for me, I did a short research and found that apparently 'KB2952664' is not installed, too (neither is it listed in the windows update). Additionally, a more recent update 'KB3046269' refuses to install properly as well, or it says it does (states 'complete' in the history) and then keeps re-appearing. Before finding this forum I of course tried to fix it myself by finding various 'solutions' on Microsoft's website.

Tried the following:

  • Multiple runs of 'System update readiness tool' (KB947821);
  • Microsoft's Fix-it;
  • Multiple runs of sfc /scannow ("Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.");
  • 'Manual' installs of the updates without Windows Update after 'clean boot';
  • Multiple runs of SFCFix.

The latter is the main reason for posting here, it has given five SURT corruption counts:

Code:
SFCFix version 2.4.5.0 by niemiro.Start time: 2015-06-23 20:57:05.282

CBS folder can be found on sendspace. It's 15MB, so I couldn't attach it. The SURlog does show multiple errors (0x80070002). I look forward to reading your reply.

Thank you!

Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named Aura. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phrase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your message. Of course it's not an issue to have Aura help me out. Unfortunately, and I am not kidding here, this afternoon my SSD crashed (I doubt it's related). It's an OCZ vertex II, was running for 4 years. Neither my bios on my desktop or my laptop is recognising the disk. I am going to have to 'reinstall' Windows on my HDD, so that should probably fix the issues I had. I apologise for wasting your time. Hopefully, I will not have any new errors. However, if I do, I will remember this forum and it's professional attitude. Thank you.

Hi Arpie :)

My name is Aura and I'll be assisting you under Brian's supervision (like he explained already). We'll need more information about two particuliar entries in the Registry. Follow the instructions below please.

Query Registry Info
1. Click on the Start
Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each
reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-Foundation-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514" /s >1
reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\Packages\Package_for_KB2533623~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2" /s >>1
notepad 1

4. Notepad will open with information. Please copy/paste this information into your next post.
