Looks like the replacement succeeded :) You are free to run a new SFC scan and post the CBS.log here for me to review it if you want. And I doubt it's related. Start-up issues are mainly caused by programs, services and drivers starting on boot.

This worked for t

But I also have a file d3d8thk.dll of Microsoft-Windows-DirectX-Direct3D9 That also is corrupted. Please help

The Scan file SFCfix.txt said this

Just addition text missing from my post:
I perform SFC /scannow and got told some files could not be repaired – I followed one of your treads and repaired the file PINTLGB.IMD using SFCFix and down loading the SFCFix.zip and dropping it on the Exe.
However, I have the following file not repairable also.
d3d8thk.dll of Microsoft-Windows-DirectX-Direct3D9

Alright, let's see if SFC accepted the replacement.

System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

sfc /scannow
Scan results said
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations
Thanks
I agree that people should not use special files when not sure of impact
I hope that Windows 10 now loads without error.

No problem demlowje, you're welcome :) Shall I mark this thread as solved then?

You need to upload the file CBS.log for me to review it.

Did you upgrade that computer to Windows 10?

Alright then there's no reason to worry about the old corrupted files anymore, since they have all been replaced by Windows 10 files.

So are you saying even though I ran scan after loading Windows 10 it looked at unrelated windows7 files?
How do I know all Windows 10 files are ok?

No, it didn't look at unrelated Windows 7 files. It only looked at Windows 10 files. And there's only one file that needs to be replaced according to your SFC scan. What edition of Windows 10 are you running?

OK - running Windows 32 bit on that machine. Also how do you clear the log file. Looked like a lot of old stuff.
Thanks for your support and getting all my computers up on Windows 10

Is it Windows 10 Home, Professional, Entreprise?

And you can delete the CBS.log in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. If it says that the file is currently in use, restart your computer and try again. Personally I don't mind, I know the differences between logs from Windows 7 and Windows 10.

Alright. There's only one corrupt file and it's a licence agreement (.rtf) file. I'll see if one of my colleague have it, because I don't.
