Hi, As described in your instructions please advise how I may fix the corruption caused by Windows 8 update KB3022345. In my case, it is the (rather important) WinDefender that is failing. I am running Win 8.1 AMD64 on an HP Envy notebook. I have attempted the fix a couple of times. The description on 'posting instrucions' is 'Create New Topic', but as you don't have that option, then hopefully this is what you meant. Also, my 'SendTo' is corrupt, so I don't have the option to create a zip file. As 7z has been installed, I tried that, but the upload (21mb file) failed. I also tried a different compression ratio to make it faster, but that failed too

Although the SFCFix log claims some success, it and the CBS log advises that the rollback file is also corrupt. I have only just purchased this machine and didn't perform the install, furthermore I don't have any install disks, so recovery is also out. Upon looking at the update history I can see that there were several failed updates which have been re-tried over and over, probably causing this inability to rollback to a good copy.

I am a developer (for 20 years), so should be able to perform fairly complex tasks, in the absence of not being able to provide the CBS logs in the way you request.

Please advise

Well, I appear to have fixed this myself (with a little help from another thread).

Here is the magic command
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Followed by another
SFC /scannow

The report is that now all is well. Whether I got lucky, I couldn't say, but for those who can't wait for an 'official' reply to this thread, you may want to try this first.
