I have been trying to fix the corrupted files from SFC for several days now, and I seem to be down to one left to fix - perf_nt.dll.

The log (SFCFix.txt) is as follows:

SFCFix version 2.4.3.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2015-05-16 20:32:14.230

Can anyone help me with this one? Thanks.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. This should get you all fixed up.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Step#2 - SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

When SCF /scannow is run, it now reports that "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." This sounds like really good news to me - perhaps the frequent IE11 & Windows Explorer crashes will stop now? At least I can hope that I won't have to do a full system rebuild - that was a pain when I was in my 30s, and I'm now 65!

Only problem is that I can't seem to get the CBS log for you. When I run the copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt script, the return is "The system cannot find the pat specified." I've also tried to open the CBS log in Explorer. The reply from Explorer is "Access is Denied." I'll be glad to send the file to you, but I don't know what to try next, or even if it's necessary. Your thoughts?

Thanks again for your assistance.

Joe Breisch

Not necessary since it completed successfully. I don't know if it will fix your frequent crashes but at least your corruption is fixed. :smile9:
