Hello there. This is my first time posting and I'd like to start by saying "Thank You" to all of the techs and other knowledgeable folks here. I have already made some progress with my problem simply by reading what others have been through, so you are ALL making a difference!
So down to business: A bad SATA cable connection to my Windows (7, professional) system drive caused some unexpected corruption. I am posting HERE, because the corruption was mostly with Windows Update. However remaining issues seem to be for me anyway, how to replace or restore the remaining files.
Here are the steps I've taken so far:
1. Ran "chkdsk c: /f" from a Windows repair disk (many errors found)
2. Ran "sfc /scannow" from within normal-mode Windows (thank God it eventually booted and ran!). This repaired around 160 problems successfully, but several "unrepairable" remained
3. Downloaded and ran "checkSUR", which fixed more but still not all.
4. Visited this forum and downloaded "SFCFix", then ran it. It fixed several files but it seems from reading the self-generated log, that two more problems remain.
5. I have attached the SFCFix log
My hope is, that someone familiar with this issue can help me bring this installation fully back from the "dead" and fix the remaining problems. Thank you in advance,
RPM7777
The "CBS" folder is attached and here is the SFCFix Log, as per your instructions:
