Hi I'm Gary R,

I'm a Security Analyst, and a Windows Update Trainee, and I'd like to help you with your problems.

As a trainee, any instructions I give you must first be checked by a qualified update expert, before I post them. This will by necessity introduce some delay to any of my replies, so please be patient.

  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the ... C:\Windows\Logs\CBS ... folder.
  • Right click on it, and select ... Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder
  • A message will appear stating, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
    • Answer Y to create a folder CBS.zip on your Desktop.
  • Please attach it to your next post.
    • If the file is too large, please upload it to a file sharing service and provide the link to it in your next reply.
    • Examples of services to upload to are WeTransfer and TransferKit and SendFileOnline

Hi, I am getting some zipped error. So, I saved the file in notepad as admin and zipped it as cbss.zip.

I need you to zip and upload the whole cbs folder.

Please try again.

I get file not found or read error. I am trying to fix this eror and then send to you Gary, thanks

OK, thanks for letting me know.

If you can't get Windows to compress (zip) your CBS folder, try installing the following tool and see if that allows you to do it.

https://www.7-zip.org/

You want the 64-bit x64 download.

Looking over your logs now, I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Please follow the instructions below to run a scan with the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) and provide a log.

  • Download SURT for your system. (Windows 7 SP1 x64)
  • Once downloaded, execute the installer, and go through the installation (this process can take around 15-20 minutes).
  • On completion, a log will be created in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
  • Attach this log to your next reply.

Next ...

  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service.
  • Examples of services to upload to are WeTransfer and TransferKit and SendFileOnline

Please post me the link to the file

Hi, the next components.zip is enclosed.
I wish to mention that in the meantime, I have experienced two bsods, one time uncorrectable hardware error with some codes and at another time, got error machine exception error. The system repair has automatically shown and I did not select system restore and allowed it to repair . After some long minutes, the system booted fine without errors. But i could not see what those repairs are and where are they have been stored.
This has happened whenever I boot the computer.
Today, also the boot stops at starting windows in a loop. I again, rebooted with forced power off and on.
please see the components.zip link

Do the Memory test as well please using MemTest86 it does a more thorough test than the Microsoft test does.

Ok. I have tested the seagate hardware test , all the basic test except long generic test. No error found.

OK, thanks.

From the logs you have supplied, and your comments about the BSODs you've experienced, I think your problems are best addressed in the BSOD forum.

So please follow the posting instructions for that forum, and open a topic/thread there.

Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 + Vista

I'll leave this topic open until they have finished helping you.

Please let me know if you're still experiencing any update problems when your BSOD problems have been resolved.

please let me know, where i could find my bsod logs so that i could supply some details for them to work on. I searched for minidump, but could not find any log file with the name specified in the system root.
please give me, location for startup repair logs and bsod logs so that i could proceed.
did not my cbs total logs convey anything

Moreover, I downloaded the bsod application and executed in my documents folder. Access denied is the only thing i could notice on the app execution.
How do I overcome this

Open a topic in the BSOD forum, and explain your problems, and the difficulties you're having in gathering the necessary logs, and the helpers there will talk you through how to get what they need.

They will know better than me, what information is essential, and whether there are alternate ways to access it.

Normally, when I raise a support issue, some one will give a specific fix for me and after executing the same, the problem would go off. Here, I think, the problem is of too technical I suppose. I have already sent the diagnostic data and performed memtest and hdd test. Again, i got a bsod on other errors.
So, I simply copied the required files from c: and then formatted the drive and reinstalled the OS. I performed sfc /scannow and now i do not have any integrity issues.
SO, this topic may be closed as resolved.
thanks gary for your help.
