Hello,
My computer crashed a few days ago (first time)
I did the SFC scan and then there were corrupted files so I downloaded sfcFix and ran it but it crashed.
I then did the command Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and then I did a SFC scan and restarted Sfcfix and it crashed again.
I got this message
SFCFix version 3.0.2.1 by niemiro.

I'm hoping you can help me.
Thank you

Hi Omadeon4

Welcome to sysnative.

Please do the following.

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to check your SMART status with GSmartControl:

  • Download the portable version of GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the zip file to your Desktop. Open the folder gsmartcontrol-1.1.3-win64 which should be located on your Desktop and double-click gsmartcontrol.exe to launch the program.
  • Identify your drive in the list (if recognized by the tool), and hover your mouse over it.
  • You should see something called: SMART status. It will either read: Enabled, in which case you should do the following:
  • Double-click on it to bring up its window (usually you'll find your drive by its size or its brand name);
  • Go to the Self-Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply or take a screenshot;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;
  • Please note: If the SMART Status reads: Unsupported, stop and let me know.

Hi Omadeon4

Although not conclusive, the SMART tests are indicating that your hard drive is beginning to fail and is likely the cause of the corruption. My advice would be to consider back up of your data and moving to a new drive.

If you want to continue with the fix, I'm happy to do so but cannot guarantee how successful this will be or if your system will have further corruption.

Let me know what you want to do.

Hi Bruce

I'm grateful that you replied me.
You think there's a better chance of my hard drive surviving than dying if I try to fix it ?
I'll make my choice on your advice.

Hi Omadeon4

When you start to see these sector warnings it's usually pretty serious. Pending sectors are the precursor to reallocated sectors which can be a strong indicator of a dead hard drive on the horizon.

If you are in a position to do so my advice would be to replace the drive.

Hi Bruce

I'll take your advice and replace my hard drive

Thank you for helping me.
🙏

Ok. Good luck and sorry we could not be of anymore help.
