Hi all,

I have tested many things, but am still stuck.
the first symptoma was the impossibility to install KB 4505903.
From there, tried to run a SFC /SCANNOW. Refused to launch.
Tried to run a DISM. stopped with error 193.
Winupdate troubleshooters says everything is right.

Finally managed to run a SFC after rebooting in RE mode. log attached.
Tried then to copy it in logs\CBS folder and run a sfcfix, sfcfix crashes when reading CBS.log.
Inbetween, tried various things with windows repair, reset windows update tool, without much success.
Tried to relaunch a setup with win10 dvd, keeing apps and docs. Won't work.
GsmartControl reports no issue.

Last status of windows update is a 0xc80003fa on KB4512508 (after 3 times 0x80240034, inbetween I tried some of the things said previously).

When downloading and launching KB4512508 manually, says it does not apply to my computer.

I would appreciate some advice or help.

If that can help, when I run DISM and get the 193 error, it adds lines like this in CBS Log :
2019-08-14 17:47:51, Info CBS Failed to load Core DLL from path: C:\WINDOWS\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.18362.263_none_5f1fc00458f64d76\\cbscore.dll [HRESULT = 0x800700c1 - ERROR_BAD_EXE_FORMAT]
2019-08-14 17:47:51, Info CBS Failed to initialize CBS class factory. [HRESULT = 0x800700c1 - ERROR_BAD_EXE_FORMAT]

Hello and welcome!

Please do the following:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

Did you check both the test results and the SMART Attributes part of the GSmartControl?

thanks so much, great progress already, I can run SFC and DISM commands.
Managed to install last stack KB4508433
Last issue remaining is KB4512508 refusing to install (tried both through WU, error 0xc1900403, and through the downloaded package)

Looks like there are other issures to treat before the KB issue. SFC and DISM both fail around 60% (tried regular restorhealth and one based on win10 ISO esd). Attached are the logs.
SFCFIX also crashes.
Also tried using setup from win10 ISO, crashes during install.

nope. Disk going fine until july. only changes I see that could affect the system is a change in antivirus in July, and a failed attempt to install KB 4505903 afterwards

After some various actions, DISM restorehealth now runs to 90% and SFC to 78%.

Here are the last logs, if someone has an idea. Seeing issues with .NET framework, I'm trying to investigate that.

Already tried, but this fails in the process and automatically reverts back. Tried it several times, with direct download from MCT, with ISO on both HDs, with ISO on DVD.
Logs attached if this inspires you.

System is already running way better than at the time of my first post, not having random BSODs or app crashes anymore, and installing security updates. Big thanks for your help on that.
I've read a bunch of issues with the latest cumulative updates from july and august, maybe next ones will put it back on track ? This gave me the inspiration to delay the automatic installs in WU parameters to prevent getting those kind of issues in the future.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

SFC went to 100% ! however, says it found some errors it could not resolve. Log attached.
Launched a SFCFIX alone afterwards, crashed.
Running a DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
