BACKGROUND

I have had microphone issues many times in the past with Windows Updates, and it happened again with the most recent one. I discovered that my drivers weren't working properly - in the relevant driver event, it says "device not migrated". I naturally tried reinstalling it many times and restarting, finding different sources for the driver, etc. and nothing worked. One of the remaining options I found through a few places online was using SFC, but when I did it came across various files it couldn't fix. Naturally I was recommended SFCFix, but now this program isn't working.

PROBLEM

I have run both sfc /scannow and the dism command I found through other posts here and in the sticky'd thread at the top of this section. When I ran SFCFix the first time, it progressed a little bit but quit shortly after, for a reason I don't remember. Now whenever I try to run it, it crashes immediately after it tries to access the CBS log, which is step 1. I only found one other thread about this topic, but I'm not sure if that user and I are having the same problem so I came here. Note that I have tried restarting my computer between runs, and it has not fixed the issue. Attatched below is my zipped CBS folder, as per the instructions in the sticky'd thread. If it's too long, I can delete the log file, rerun the steps and try again if that helps.

Thank you very much in advance. I am running Windows 10.

Hello and welcome!

Please do the following twice:

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

That's pretty strange. For some reason when I did it this time, it worked. I swear I was running it as administrator before - I have no idea why that would happen. I ran it twice, and the second time Windows Resource protection didn't find any problems. It's worth noting that SFCFix.exe still crashes soon at the start. Here is the log.
