I completed a windows update successfully, but then my laptop kept hanging. Eventually I ran chkdsk and the system corrected errors. Chkdsk log attached.

I ran sfc / scannow -t it did not find any errors. I also downloaded, installed and ran "Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64" - no error messages at the end.

However, SFC Fix found 312 corruption errors but couldn't fix them.

My CBS Log can be downloaded from: CBS.zip - Google Drive

Thanks very much for your help.

Hello and welcome,

Download
51ab99ff51ec9-CrystalDiskInfo.png
CrystalDiskInfo.zip and save it on your desktop.
Extract the .zip file into a new folder.
In this new folder, run the tool DiskInfo.
When the tool is finished, it will show some information about the hard disc.
Note: Resize the window so that all information is visible.
Take a screenshot. Read this on how to take a screenshot.
Upload the image file to a file-sharing site and post the download link.

The screenshot looks good.
Attach the logfile C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log in your next reply.

Start the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
On completion, attach the logfile C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log in your next reply.

The SUR tool fixed all corruptions which might have taken some time.

Please check Windows Update and report if there are any issues.

Peter,

I started Windows Update and checked for updates. No problems in doing that, but there were no important updates to install, only optional updates that I would prefer not to install.

Still it seemed to work ok.

The last SFCFix.txt said that the SURT total detected corruption count was 229. Is that a problem? It sounds pretty bad.

Thanks.

That is no problem. The SUR tool fixed 229 items earlier today and SFCFix mistakenly shows this number.

You welcome. This thread will be marked as solved.
