Hey there !
I come to this forum seeking for help after running a scan with the SFCFix software and detecting 232 " CBS & SFC total detected corruption count " that cannot be fixed automatically.

The problem is at it follows : I've been playing games on my computer for years now without any major problems (AMD A8 6600K 3900 MHz / 16 Go RAM DDR3 / NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1050 and 1.5 To Hard Drive ), it ain't much but it's an honest computer.

Until last week i was playing everything i enjoyed fine with medium specs and it gave me a BOSD ( Blue screen of death ) in GTA V if i remember correctly, since then i cannot launch any game, mozilla firework tabs just crash, it even gave me another BOSD when i was writing this tread.

I did what i know how to do, i'm no genious with computers i just try to get around my problems. I tried removing all the dust from it, updating the drivers of my graphic card, removing basically everything exept for GTAV and Far Cry 5 to try some "big" games after fixing, a bit of malwarebytes and ccleaner scan and running the "sfc /scannow" from the commands which simply crashed, which led me to use this program ( Also i suspected problems with Directx which led me to look in the SFC ).

I looked to a bunch of forums before all that but having never heard of the sfc thingy before and seeing the 232 detected corruptions i wanted to stop going full freestyle and asking for help here.

I've attached the log the software gave me to the thread, spoiler alert it detected 232 problems and fixed none.

Also I'm planning on selling the computer having already ordered a new one that i will recieve next, i just dont wanna sell a BOSD machine of doom to a friend or to anyone.

I'm thanking in advance everybody who took the time to read this post and/or is willing to help me in my quest for a stable machine, also i'm not native but i think i can get around english, so please forgive me if i made any grammar mistakes.

Thanks :)

Hello and welcome!

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named writhziden. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hello, and welcome to Sysnative Forums.

Due to SFC crashing and you mentioning other installed apps/games also crashing, I suspect hard disk failure of some degree. Either your file system has become corrupted or the hard disk itself is starting to show signs of damage. Before proceeding further, I would like you to check for hard disk damage by following the below steps.

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to check your SMART status with GSmartControl:

  • Download the portable version of GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the zip file to your Desktop. Open the folder gsmartcontrol-1.1.3-win64 which should be located on your Desktop and double-click gsmartcontrol.exe to launch the program.
  • Identify your drive in the list (if recognized by the tool), and hover your mouse over it.
  • You should see something called: SMART status. It will either read: Enabled, in which case you should do the following:
  • Double-click on it to bring up its window (usually you'll find your drive by its size or its brand name);
  • Go to the Self-Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply or take a screenshot;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;
  • Please note: If the SMART Status reads: Unsupported, stop and let me know.
