Hiya

I can't seem to get rid of these FlashPlayerCPLApp entries SFC keeps complaining about. 8.1 N Pro, about 2 months old, had Flash player installed a while ago but I've happily ditched it forever several weeks ago and hope to never reinstall it.

The attachment uploader isn't working at all for me, so here's a dropbox link and I'll use the big uploader in a second: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3357590/Filebox/CBS.zip

I've downloaded the installation iso that I used for this Windows and mounted it to F: - SFCFix doesn't seem to do much with it. I've tried using dism with /source:F:\sources\sxs but that just gave an error message about not finding the right files. I've had to dive into gpedit to enable sfc to download files it needed through Windows Update because apparently some genius at MS thought it was a good idea to set that to disabled by default, but at least that fixed a few of my problems already - except for this.

I've been doing a bunch of troubleshooting stuff for several problems the last few days and have honestly lost track of what is and isn't broken, which tool gave me which errors, etc, so sorry if I can't remember more details. Ask me whatever else I need to do and such and it'll happen.

Thanks for any help and I hope to finally get some rest after wrestling with nonsense like this for 3 days straight

Anyone, please?

Reinstalling Flash (again) took sfc's reported issues down to just a few more, although I think as soon as I remove Flash again the count will go back up, just like before. All the entries are labeled Adobe-Flash-for-Windows. I installed my installation iso to a usb stick and booted that to use it for repairs, but sfc in repair boot reported it couldn't complete the operation and dism refuses to find C:\Windows to repair it. Startup repair didn't detect anything wrong, even though it really should have*.

*Startup repair should have detected something because SFC's nagging isn't the only thing that's been wrong the last few days. There's a random bunch of things wrong all of a sudden, and they just come out of nowhere. I'm pulling my hair out over a new random issue or glitching program every day.

Apparently, my bcd store is corrupted: http://i.imgur.com/1lmLu5M.png That "the parameter is incorrect" line won't go away no matter what I do, and when I try to start EasyBCD I just get an error message that's so huge it doesn't even fit on my screen: http://i.imgur.com/2ZiayGZ.png Once inside, it seems impossible to load my bcd store into it to make modifications. I've googled for hours and done all the troubleshooting I could find, but nothing worked or did anything.

For some reason, every program I install since yesterday or so creates invalid shortcuts for itself: http://i.imgur.com/YZmo822.png The shortcut refers to Program Files (x86) in one box and to the default one in the other, causing the shortcut to lose its icon and throw warnings when I check their properties. This has never happened before and I can't even think of anything that causes this. So far it has happened to Virtualbox, Boot2Docker and Classic Shell, all of which created perfectly fine shortcuts last time I installed them.

I find myself having to do things twice before they actually work. I tried updating MySQL, it kept failing over and over again until I closed the updater entirely and tried again, doing the exact same thing. Lenovo Update couldn't do a scan, no matter how many times I retried. Then I closed the program entirely and did the same thing again, then it worked. I told it to install the update it had downloaded, guess what? Yeah, it couldn't install it. I could only get it to install by doing it manually, twice. I tried booting up Docker earlier, it took forever and never really finished. I killed it, started it again and then it worked like normal.

Is my computer possessed by a poltergeist or something? These issues are all so weird and none of the troubleshooting I find online does anything. I haven't even mentioned yet that my bootloader (refind), which has always worked flawlessly, suddenly decided to display in 640x480 instead of full res one time during boot. Something like that doesn't "just happen", especially if you're already having a ton of other random issues.

Am I looking at reinstalling Windows yet again to get rid of all this or does this look like a typical case where something specific is broken and can be fixed?

Please help, these issues have been going on for too long and I'm getting way too stressed out because of them.

Update: running sfc for the... 15th? time finally fixed all the file errors! I'm looking into everything else right now, see what else there is that's broken.

Thanks for the update. Good to hear you're working things out. Let us know if you need us to look at anything service related (i.e Windows Update, CBS.log, DISM).
