Built my first PC 8 months or so ago. This SFC corrupt file issue has plagued me for months now. I'm not sure what exactly it's causing, but I have no malware and experience some unexplained issues occasionally that I think could be related. What matters is I have tried everything I can google tons and tons of things but I'm at the point that I'm going to start my own thread instead of using others. I've taken tons of steps but I can hardly remember them all, so I guess just assume I've done nothing. I lost the USB I installed windows 7 off of and it would be quite a pain to get another. It is a genuine windows copy authenticated etc. I tried to follow the posting instructions but please let me know if I'm missing anything. Here's hoping this is an easy fix for you guys!!!

This should do the trick!

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put
    Code:
tags around the log to break up the text.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Sorry about the delay again, I was expecting a slower response but will check here more frequently from now on!

I had to zip the logs as it was over the size limit, but I think that you may have fixed my issue. SFC said no integrity violations finally! It has been months and so bothersome but you resolved it so quickly, I am truly impressed. You know computers a lot better than me.

Is there a 'mark as resolved' sort of thing here or should I just go about my business. I guess that's only on actual support tickets, never mind, man I wish windows had an official support like this
