problem: get error "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service"

when putting "sfc /scannow" into cmd

just like http://windowsinstructed.com/fix-windows-resource-protection-could-not-start-the-repair-service/they say to make a separate thread

need: need a link to a step by step guide so i can try everything and see if anything works

likely had this problem for 2 or so years... on a 2.5 yr laptop.... -- ill like to take care of this once and for all...

Before we get started we need to have a look at some logs. Please run SFC again (It will fail, but I want to see the most recent error)

SFC /SCANNOW

1. Click on the
   
   button. Inside the search box type in CMD
2. Right click on CMD => Choose Run as Administrator
3. Inside the Command Prompt windows copy and paste the following command SFC /SCANNOW
4. Please wait for this to Finish before continuing with the rest of the steps.

Convert CBS.log to CBS.txt

1. Click on the
   
   button => Inside the search box copy and paste the following command:
   

   cmd /c copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"

2. Press Enter
3. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please upload CBS.txt to this thread

There was an error in the cbs.log that I wanted to see if FSS would fix.

Failed setting restore point [HRESULT = 0x80070422 - ERROR_SERVICE_DISABLED]

Now I am not sure if this error is from the VSS service, or the BITS service.

Please download OTL (by OldTimer) from the link below and save it to your Desktop.

1. Disable all anti-virus and anti-malware software to prevent them inhibiting OTL in any way. If you are unsure how to do this, see THIS.
2. Double-click OTL.exe to run it.
3. Set every option to None -> Except for Services please set Services to All
4. Click Run Scan to start OTL.
5. When OTL finishes scanning, OTL.txt will open.
6. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this logs into your next post please.

The service I wanted FSS to look over was the Windows Update service, FSS detected that there was no issue with that service.

The issue here is that one of the Windows Service's has been disabled, as you can not run System Restore it is most likely the VSS (Volume Shadow Service), this service is a big part of System restore. Without this service it will not work.

The issue here is that a program called KMSPico has been install on your computer, this program is made to activated illegal version of Windows. Now I am not saying that you purposely did this, what I am saying is that it has been installed. The problem with these counterfeit tools like KMSpico is that they disable a lot of critical Windows services, in order for the tool to work uninterrupted. What I need you to do is run MGADiag (From my instructions in post 9) to see if we are able to remove this counterfeiting tool and get your system working as it should. MGADiag will not fix or touch any system files, what it will do is it will help work out the best approach to try and fix this. Instructions can be found below to run MGADIag.
