Hello,
Win7Pro sp1
The original problem is that program I'm trying to install is checking for prerequest files. At the end the installation stops with message: You still require Windows Imaging Components.
I can't install WIC because it is already installed in Win7 sp1. :banghead:
I tough that maybe sfc /scannow will help, and I get this on the end of CBS.log :shame2:

I found this post https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...-resource-protection-found-corrupt-files.html , and looks like this can be fix. :grin1:

Thanks,

Mia

Sure, it's fixable :)
However, we need to do a few more things along the way...

Please also post the full CBS.log file - it has a lot more data in it which may help to curing other existing problems.

Also, Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from Use System Update Readiness tool to fix package corruption errors
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your reply.

CheckSUR - as you probably noticed - didn't find anything wrong.

This is a little easier to read than your version of the CBS output..

I can't see any errors in the background CBS data, so just fixing this one file should be enough :)

I'll post the protocol for it in a few minutes.

I've uploaded a file - m15aa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive

Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...

Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract

Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'

Pick that

You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt

At the prompt type

DIR C:\m15aa

hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try

DIR D:\m15aa

or

DIR E:\m15aa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following
command...

XCOPY <drive>:\m15aa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type

EXIT

and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt

then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

Hi Noel,

Worked like magic. :thumbsup2:

C:\>sfc /scannow

...

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violation

C:\> View attachment CBS.zip THANK YOU!!! :hug:

BTW is there a way to know where the kerberos.dll came from?

Mia

Ps. Can you help me with my original problem?
The installation of the program stop with message: You still require Windows Imaging Components.
But the Windows Imaging Components is installed already in win7 sp1. Can't pass this point. :confused2:

Any suggestion?

Anyway, thank you, and
:wave: A very happy New Year to you, your family and everyone at [FONT=Tahoma, Times New Roman]Sysnative.com[/FONT]! Have a great New Year!!! :wave:

What is the exact program you're trying to install (including version number)?
It may be that it's attempting to access parts of the system which aren't installed in your edition of Windows - which edition is it?
Is this a retail install, or an OEM install?

WIC was written in 2006 - all files in the download are signed 5th Oct 2006.
This puts them on a par with Vista's release date.

Having said that, the INF files don't contain anything other than WinXP/Server2003 registry changes - indeed, as far as I can see, it's specifically barred from installing in later OS's
Code:
MaxNtBuildToUpdate        = 2600
MaxNtMajorVersionToUpdate = 5
MaxNtMinorVersionToUpdate = 1

You can try using Compatibility Mode (set to XP SP2 or SP3) and see if the program installs then - but you still haven't said what the actual program you're attempting to install is :)

Hi Noel,
I managed to install the software and is working fine, but this bothers me:

<snip>
Installing Windows Imaging Component

There was a problem installing the following prerequisites:

Windows Imaging Component

Would you like to re-try?

If the installation of the prerequisites fails after multiple attempts, please attempt to install the prerequisites yourself, or contact your system administrator.
<snip>

Let see... WIC is part of win7 sp1, and I hope that this message means nothing.

BTW - Compatibility Mode is not working to...

any other suggestions?

Thank you,

Mia

If the software is working, it means that Win7's built-in emulators are working :)
I wouldn't worry about that error - did you follow their 'install the prerequisites yourself' link?

,,, in passing, I noticed I hadn't answered one of your questions -
The 6.1.7601.17527 version appears to me to be part of a .NET 3.5 update
:)
