had some issues with a scannow following a screw up with magicdisk, with high specs I can normally expect a boot time of about 14 seconds, but since having to restore after this it takes about 2 minutes. I read that removing magicdisk can cause problems so i ran a scan, here's the zip.

Full cmd log: "

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]

C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

The scan took about 3 1/2 minutes, Windows is installed on an SSD, if that helps at all
Thanks in advance for the help.
Going to restore my laptop again since I tried magicdisk, and again, it failed.
The file is 7.32mb dispite ultra compression from 7z, the forum only allow 7.15mb so here's a direct dropbox link :) https://www.dropbox.com/s/gzjstlg3n24b9le/CBS.zip

Thanks, that's great. Now can you post your CheckSUR log:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Hi Daniel,

The SURT performed a few fixes, but none of which were the ones I was hoping for!

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Hi Daniel,

Time will tell! It shouldn't be anything to worry about though, it just makes things harder for us.

Are you trying to uninstall IE10, or have you uninstalled IE10 at some point? Several of the files mentioned in your CBS log are trying to be rolled back from 10.2.9200.16686 to 9.4.8112.16421.

Nope, the computer is like 4 days old and the first problems occured when restoring from installing magicdisk, and i tried to put it in hibernate last night and after 2 hours the battery died, maybe some of the damaged windows files is causing this?
The laptop starts up in about 14 seconds again, as normal, but on some boots it won't play the animation for 30 seconds and no hdd activity, the second the hdd is active it boots straight away...

Hi Daniel,

Great! Looks much better! As far as I can tell, SFC has repaired all but one of the files:

Code:
2013-10-06 23:11:29, Info CSI 00000511 [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"vwififlt.sys" of Microsoft-Windows-VWiFi, Version = 6.1.7600.16385, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, file cannot be checked

But there's only one way to check, another scan!

SFC Scan

I've got a lovely 9am differential equations lecture so I've got to head off now, but I'll get back to you with a fix for this and your shutdown issue tomorrow (well, technically it's today now).

Hi Daniel,

Sorry for the delay!

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

I also took the liberty of doing another sfc /scannow,
" https://www.dropbox.com/s/6n85llalsjnspzg/CBS.log "
and i'll try to go into hibernate, I'll let you know :D

Hibernating still fails
Something intresting;
the laptop has a gtx 680 3gb, which enables and disables when it's needed, and when it turns on a light comes on, etc.
A game called Haunted Memories doesn't support it switching from the intergrated HD graphics (which it uses when there's no load to save battery) to the gpu, it crashes, if I go directly to hauntedmemories.exe and right click it, i can choose what graphics to launch it with, if i force it to stay on either, it's fine.
Same with a software called Unity.
ANYWAYS; When entering hibernate, i see my gpu light go on, and the fans switch on too, and then I have a black screen and the hdd light is flat out, for upto 2 hours (longest I've waited) but I can't hear any HDD activity, maybe the hibernate issues are something todo with this?
Also I can't say for sure, but on the boot after having to hard shutdown on the hibernate, windows said it was doing an update, speaking of boots, I've not had any major hangs on boots, apart from the update operation one, but that is only 10 seconds and it happens to my freind, whenever an update is being installed before windows boots.
If you know a way of preventing hibernate from switching graphics; I think that might help, but I'm a novice
