SFC scannow errors, DISM not working, cannot do an in-place upgrade

Recently I've been having problems with sfc. Windows resource protection would find corrupt files but be unable to fix them. I looked up this problem and the solution seemed to be to run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth as detailed here SFC Finds Corrupt Files but is Unable to Fix - Windows 10 Forums. Like one of the posters in the thread, I had error 0x800f081f pop up, but when I tried an in-place upgrade, the result was another error: the installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation. Looking online lead me to see that many others have had this problem as well, but since their circumstances were different from mine I wasn't sure how to proceed from here. Trying to start over with a new installation of Windows 10 didn't work either, as there would always be an error. I've attached the DISM log file to this post and the CBS log can be found here CBS.log - Google Drive. Hopefully someone here can help me out with this problem, as I've been dealing with it all through Christmas. I'll be very grateful for any assistance I get.

DISM /RestoreHealth Scan

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Right-click on the Start
    w8start.png
button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  3. When DISM finishes scanning your component store, zip up and attach your CBS log to your next post:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

If the zip file is larger than 8MB, please use a file sharing service such as OneDrive, DropBox, SendSpace, etc. and include the link with your reply.

I tried running the SFCFix exe with zip, but now I seem to be stuck at the login page of Windows 10 with no way to enter my password. When I boot up my computer, I'm taken to the time screen, then when I press a button to type in my password, the clock moves up and the screen dims slightly, but I am unable to enter my password because there is no password prompt (nowhere to enter the password). Moreover, the page will keep resetting to the clock screen. What do I do now? There is a lot of lag as well.

In the boot and recovery options, please try using System Restore to restore your system to a date before this problem started.

Let me know if that works and your computer boots to the desktop.

I have tried this, but system restore states that an error has occurred

EDIT: I have bought a new hard drive and reinstalled Windows on it to combat the problem (reinstalling Windows on the old hard drive would give me an error as well). All seems to be going well so far.

Once it is up and running, check the old disk's SMART stats. I suspect it may have a problem.
