Running windows 7 pro. You helped me fixed some issues in the past and hoping you can help again.

running sfc /scannow find corrupts file(s) each time and each time it tells me that they have all been repaired. Running your sfcfix program does not show any errors. See attached CBS LOG. Thank you.

Hi cadprofessor :)

My name is Aura and I'll be assisting you with your issue. Is it possible to have the whole CBS.log?

System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't have the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

Thanks for the reply. Attached is the CBS log file in zip format. I hope this is what you requested. Thank you.

Yes that is correct. Every time I run sfc it displays that I have corrupted files and it has repaired them. I can run sfc three times in a row and it still gives the same message.

Alright, follow the instructions below please.

System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) - Scan
Follow the instructions below to run a scan with the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) and provide a log;
  • Download the right version of SURT for your system;
    • Your version of Windows is:
  • Once downloaded, execute the installer, and go throught the installation (this process can take around 15-20 minutes);
  • On completion, a log will be created in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log;
  • Attach this log in your next reply;
Alternatively, if these instructions are unclear for you, you can follow the tutorial below.

System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)

I have uninstalled KB3108669 shortly after it was release due to the fact it made several of the plugins that I use with windows media center non functional. I wonder if this is the issue sfc since sur found those missing files as errors.

No, it's finding another file, not one added by that KB. What is strange is that the file that keeps on being replaced is part of the RTM version of Windows 7. Follow the instructions below please.

Good :) Now let's run SFC again.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete;
  • Once done, a file will appear on your Desktop, called SFCFix.txt;
  • Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply;

This is a weird issue. According to your CBS.log, the diskmgt.CHM file in the 409 folder always gets replaced, because the hash isn't the right one.
Code:
2016-03-06 16:54:07, Info CSI 000003b3 Hashes for file member \??\C:\Windows\Help\mui\0409\diskmgt.CHM do not match actual file [l:22{11}]"diskmgt.CHM" :

The expected hash is from a diskmgt.CHM that is found on your system, and also present in the 409 folder.
Code:
FileScan::
[0: 2] C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_server-help-chm.diskm_v.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_en-us_d76955a45e11858c\diskmgt.CHM

However... the hash that is found instead belongs to another diskmgt.CHM file on your system, which doesn't belong anywhere in the Help\mui folder.
Code:
[12: 1] C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_server-help-chm.diskmgt.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_en-us_1921e36e58dca6e2\diskmgt.CHM

It's the only file like that. I won't be able to check this out today since I have night classes, but I'll take another look at it tomorrow. I've seen that kind of issue before, but this one is completely different.

Edit: I might have found it, the issue probably comes from the WinSxS folder name of the diskmgt.CHM file that is expected. I'll prepare a fix tonight when I get home if I have time, otherwise it'll be tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the detail reply. I'll be on the lookout of the potential fix. Your help is appreciated.

Alright so it appears that the amd64_server-help-chm.diskm_v.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_en-us_d76955a45e11858c folder indeed exists in a Windows 7 RTM .iso, but not amd64_server-help-chm.diskmgt.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_en-us_1921e36e58dca6e2. I'll have to check with my VMs once I get home tonight.

Do you have any language packs installed?
