[SOLVED] sfc /scannow cant fix corruption dism /restorehealth cant find source helpmeobiwncnbi

Upgraded from win 8.1 to windows 10 on day 2 kept everything and it went smooth. i had recently purchased an SSD and wanted to clean install but had been waiting for windows 10 since i knew i would be upgrading. after doing the upgrade and checking current hardware/software compatibility to satisfaction and dove into a clean install following instructions carefully. I went ISO and thought it went smoothly. noticed problems installing some software (GTA V) via first party official download/update program. anyhow i did all the hardware tests to ensure nothing had failed literally overnight and nothing had.

longer story less long i ran sfc many times each after a reboot to no avail corruption still found and unfixed tried dism but it cannot find source even when pointed directly to it.

i even clean installed again and errors remain. please help me obi wan kanobi your my only hope.

oops didnt read instructions till i posted but i have run sfcfix and it has crashed

You can fix these errors by downloading the media creation tool for windows 10, download it, run it, and choose "upgrade now." Google the tool.

And you can still do a clean install if you upgraded from an activated copy of windows 7, 8, or 8.1 to win 10, just choose to skip the product key when doing the clean install and windows will be activated after you finish the installation.

I have tried to upgrade from DVD i created that fails in bsod. tried to upgrade from mounted iso. bsod. 2nd clean install from DVD still corrupted. re downloaded media creation and iso from non corrupt computer at work used that iso mounted for dism source fail...... tried it all

No don't use ISO, use the media creation tool to upgrade by running it and choosing "upgrade now."

well it didnt BSOD during upgrade this time but still getting corrupt files that cannot be fixed by sfc...

correct. so this is the full path i have taken. upgrade from 8.1 to 10 worked fine. clean install of 10 corrupt 10 to 10 upgrade would BSOD. second clean install corrupt. 10 to 10 upgrade did not BSOD and installed to completion corruption remained.

ok longer version of sorts (more detailed maybe anyhow)

after the upgrade from 8.1 to 10 was a success i downloaded media creation tool and made a dvd. clean installed from that dvd and that went smooth as far as i knew. after downloading the 60 gigs of crap i had stored away in the cloud and sorting out some personal folders (basically moving into the new OS) i wanted to play a game, grand theft auto 5. installationg from the GTA disks was troublesom with crc errors. forums on gta v crc errors led to me use rockstars online downloader/installer to install the game as it seems common for even new gta v disks to not work well.

NO BSODS HAD OCCURRED YET ONLY CRC DISK READ ERRORS

the gta v online installer seemed cool it was downloading the game, its over 60 gigs so i knew it would take a while so i went to watch tv. when i came back to check computer was at loging screen wtf?
tried again and watched and not long after launching the gta v program the computer BSODs with memory management. i was frantic thinking my ram or something had fried so ive run memtest86 and stress tests and interchanged known good hardware and removed questionable old hardware. removed, reinstalled, updated all drivers. did it all then i found a forum talking about sfc and dism. i had never had to use either of these on any computers i have built or owned so blarg.

thats when i noticed corruption. sfc couldnt repair. dism couldnt find source even when pointed to several forms of that source (the dvd i created. an iso i re downloaded thru media creation here. another iso on a flash drive that was downloaded from an upgraded machine at my work.

ran sfc from safe mode tried to run from powershell... powshell doesnt even work it says some sorry error and shows a prompt but will not accept/run commands.

THIS IS when i learned that a 10 - 10 upgrade might fix. tried BSOD. tried with keep nothing BSOD. tried upgrade from dvd boot bsod. each upgrade bsod would just reset back to broken windows 10.

Finally i did another clean isntall. CLEAN INSTALL #2

still have corruption. try everything again. powershell works now so something is 'better' but the GTA downloader still BSODS. everything else seems to work fine.

that leaves us pretty much at today. your help showed me that a 10 to 10 upgrade now completes but doesnt fix the corruption...

Press the Windows Key

+ r on your keyboard at the same time. Type Notepad and click OK.
Copy the three bold lines below and paste into the Notepad document:

sfc /scannow
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\CBS.txt"
del %0
Click Format. Ensure Wordwrap is unchecked.
Click File, Save As and name the file sfcscannow.bat.
Select All Files as the Save as type. Save the file to your Desktop.
Locate sfcscannow.bat

on your Desktop. Right-click the file and click
