[SOLVED] SFC /Scannow and SFCFix.exe report files fdeploy.dll, fde.dll, gptext.dll as corrupted

I first ran SFC /Scannow several times, always getting the message that several files could not be fixed (the sfcdetails.txt file is attached). I then ran SFCFix.exe which posted the report below. What must I do to fix my system?

Thank you for your help.

Sorry, I thought I had included what was needed. The whole folder was too large to attach. I have now uploaded the whole zipped folder to my Google drive and you can download it from this link:

Thank you,

I ran SFC /scannow and once completed tried to get the CBS.log file to copy to my desktop as you instructed but access was denied. I the opened it in notepad and saved it. The link to the file in my google Drive is below. I hope it is what you need.

CBS.log_190317.txt

While doing this I changed the security permissions for the CBS.log file in Windows and now there is no grayed tick on special permissions. How do I reestablish the original permissions. Now only read and write are ticked.

Thank you for your time.

Hi,

Restart Windows in Safe Mode.

Download Windows Repair (All-in-One) Portable

  • Extract the tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio.zip to c:\Windows\TEMP the zip will extract to a folder called Tweaking.com - Windows Repair
  • Execute the file Repair_Windows.exe from the Tweaking.com - Windows Repair folder, accept the Security warning and the EULA
  • Click the button Jump To Repairs
  • Click the Open Repairs button to access the following screen:

    WindowsRepair.png
  • Click the box All Repairs to uncheck all the boxes
  • Check only the following boxes:
    • 01 - Reset Registry Permissions
    • 02 - Reset File Permissions
    • 03 - Reset Service Permissions
  • Check the box Restart/Shutdown System When Finished > Restart System
  • Click the Start Repairs button

Done. Am I correct in assuming that this was to reestablish the security permissions for the CBS.log file? Now, what should I do to fix corrupted windows files?

BTW, I was never able to update this machine from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It always says: "Windows 10 could not be installed". "Error found C1900101-2007 Windows Update encountered an unknown error."

Yes, this should have done the trick. The files have already been fixed. I can help you with the upgrade if you want. :) Please attempt it again and let me know at which exact point it fails.

I have been trying to update since to W-10 since it was released and various intents were made when it was free to upgrade. After the multiple intents, I never deleted anything from the computer so I imagine Microsoft can still access the log files to verify that I tried to upgrade during the promotional period. Notwithstanding, will I now be charged for the update, do you know?

The upgrade is proceeding. I will message you when it either stops or succeeds. Thank you once again.

I ran SFC /scannow and all was well. I then tried again the upgrade to W.-10 and it ran perfectly. I am extremely grateful to you. I had been trying to do that for years to no avail. I guess that is it for the moment. Thank you.
One last question, is upgrading to W-10 equivalent to a reinstall? In other words, will it have corrected any other system files that might have been corrupted in W-7?

My recently updated computer goes into hibernation but when I restart it, it boots to the login screen photo but then refuses to show me where to write the PIN so as to login to my or any other user account nor will it show the shutdown icon or anything else. My only option has been to hold the power button until the computer shuts down. Any suggestions.
