Hi!

Having discovered the er..*joys* of windows 8.1 upgrade from Windows 8, I decided I would be actually much happier with the less hassle prone Windows 8 so went back to that...recently, I'm assuming it's after an update was installed, I've noticed my system behaving very oddly. I tried doing an sfc /scannow on it, and sure enough it picked up a bunch of problems (that's probably an understatement. Now I know there's a sticky file, but for heaven's sake I'm not that technically talented, to be honest, I'm getting more technophobic as time progresses. I noticed in the sticky post in the forums regarding the sfc file issues that there are several instances of fixes that can be used for specific problems, but I have a bunch of them I reckon. I can't get half way down the entire page without losing track of stuff and then my brain just throws the paper in the air and says "stuff it all". So, can I have some help on this issue perleeeease?
I would include a cbs log file, but it takes up more than the just over 1Meg allowed - so I need help with that stuff too!

Thanks!

Hello and a warm welcome to Sysnative!

Normally I would give you a link to the tutorial, but you said you were struggling with it, so I will walk you through the fix step by step here. Since I am the writer of the tutorial, is there anything you think I could do it make it easier to follow? All suggestions are welcome! :)

Anyway, let's start by getting an idea on what the problem is.

SFC Scan

  1. Press the Windows Key on your keyboard and X to open up the Power User Tasks Menu
  2. Click (or tap) Command Prompt (admin)
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue (approximately 15 minutes)

SFCFix Auto Analysis

  1. Download SFCFix.exe and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  3. Double click on SFCFix.exe to open it.
  4. Follow all on screen instructions and upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  5. Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please.

Any issues, let me know

Stephen
