I've been dealing with this for several days. I've booted into gparted to see what the issue was with the disk, and the bad sectors where corrected. Tried to run all the suggested gyrations of dism to solve the issue. Still no joy.
The best i can get to is a system reset that will delete all applications but keep documents and settings.
I've corrected the registry for the %PROGRAMFILES% issues but still no job.
