I can't seem to get rid of an error with SFC /scannow.
When I run it the error I get is:
Cannot repair member file [l:18{9}]"MSDTC.LOG"
I have run:
Chkdsk /r
It did fix some errors.
It's now clean.
I did run SFC /scannow after that.
I'm getting the same error.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64bit
I can't find the file MSDTC.LOG

As a side note in the folder C:\Windows\servicing\Packages
I have 24,111 files. Is that normal?

Thank you for the reply...

I have completed step 3
I have downloaded and installed the System Update Readiness tool. All 26 files.
I am surprised the instructions never suggested I run:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
or
SFC /scannow

I have attached the CBS folder in a zip file as instructed.

Thank you very much for your time.

Thank you. You indicated you had already run SFC at least twice. DISM does not work with Win7; the SURT is recommended. I will try to look at the files this weekend but it may not be possible due to other commitments.

Hi,

  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply.

Step 2:
Restart the computer.
Run the command sfc /scannow again in an elevated commandprompt and report the result.
