i have acer aspire one netbook (an old one :)) with win 7 starter edition. i seem to have powered it off during update, though i don't clearly remember as it all happened more than a month ago. 2 days ago i tried to boot OS but failed (first error - bootmng missing). strangely my netbook battlery now DOESN"T CHARGE AT ALL as if it's not there.

i have my recovery disc and it successfully patched boot sector and thus was able to see what was happening. system doesn't boot to logon screen (when starting windows normally) - just black screen. when i start it in safe mode everything goes to up to a message Interactive logon process initialization has failed. Same thing happens when i try to use last good configuration.

repairing startup in recovery mode and restoring don't do a thing, though i managed to to run SFC with several errors. View attachment CBS-2.log.zip
btw there's a hidden recovery partition (pqservice) and another partition of 130MB if it matters.

please help. it seems that system is somehow pausing (black screen) during normal phase and gets to logon error during safe mode. luckily it's not BSOD.
please help guys! tried almost everything that's on google but nothing helped.

Hi :welcome: to Sysnative,

Farbar Recovery Scan

On a clean/working machine, please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to a flash drive.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

For 32 bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)
For 64 bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 (FRST64)

Plug the flash drive into the problematic PC.

Enter System Recovery Options using one of those options:

Option 1: Enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:

  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping theF8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Repair your computer menu item.
  • Select English as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
  • Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.

  • Select English as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
  • Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
