A month ago, I installed KB3000850. Because I had Avast, it bricked my system and I was able to System restore out of that, delete avast and use my system. However after system restore, I can no longer install KB3000850 again - it fails every time with the 800700A1 error code. I tried to follow some of the local threads (my problem is super similar), but since there are some minor differences, I don't wanna take any chances:

https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...te-kb3000850-fails-with-error-0x800700a1.html

I tried to run "sfc /scannow" with the following output:
Code:

Then I tried to run SFCFix.exe with
Code:
FileScan::

and got this output:

That is fine, because the file is supposed to be compressed.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.

  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

The output of SFCFix Script / SFCFix.zip / SFCFix.txt is:
Code:

Start time: 2015-01-07 12:36:33.398
Using .zip script file at C:\Users\Pavel\Desktop\SFCFix.zip [0]

Hi Paya,

Strange, SFCFix failed to copy the file. I had a look at the zip file I sent you but I could not work why SFC failed here.

I have attached a another copy of the zip file to this, can you please repeat the process?

Hi, thanks again for helping me out :-) The output is (same as before, only timestamps and hash is different):

I am little confused though, I checked both zip files and they contain binary-identical files, only the .zip archive is a little different. Not sure if that's intentional, but probably is lol. Anyway if the code is failing, maybe I can do something about the MSDTC.log myself, take ownership, reboot to live CD or something like that.

Thank you guys so much, it seems this one finally worked:

Can I now run "SFC /SCANNOW" and try to install KB3000850 to see if the issue is fixed? Or are there any further steps necessary?

Everything seems fine, I have finally successfully installed the KB, and SFC says everything is ok. Thank you guys!!!
