Have a Windows 2012 server that I'm unable to scan for updates and patch. Have run through the steps in the how-to guide above, so am attaching my CBS and DISM log files and below is SFCFix scan file. As a heads up, also did a DISM against a good ISO and no better.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sorry about that, I had an error in my script - go ahead and try the steps from the previous post to run SFCFix with this fix script instead:

Looks good :)

Check for Windows Updates and install any that are offered. If an update fails, zip and attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log with your reply.

I can NOT get this thing to find patches! Windows Update just spins for days. Any idea what logs I should be looking at now? I can get to Windows Update as far as I can tell (Other machines on this network can, and I can get to the Microsoft Update catalog page if that helps.)

Please zip and attach C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log and C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
Are there any policies set for WSUS etc. on this machine?

So I (partially) lied - if you let the machine sit for DAYS at the Windows Update screen, it does actually respond. I found all the updates it needed. I installed the latest monthly update, rebooted and it seems to have installed, but sitting at the Windows Update screen again scanning for updates since 8 or 9am.

CBS has gotten quite large. . . Not horribly big zipped, so you should be able to get it, but if it's too big to deal with, let me know and I'll clear it out and start another Windows Update scan.

No WSUS policies. Do use a third-party system that handles our patches, but it just comes along and does the actual installs based on what Windows Update says it needs. Since the WU scan takes forever, the third-party tool times out and is basically doing nothing right now.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/aycdbihgldaznof/DEVWEB 1.zip?dl=1

How long did it take for the most recent scan?
If you change Windows Update to 'never check for updates' and then turn it back on, this will clear the cache - the next scan would take much longer but future scans may be quicker.

I'll give that a shot. Literally days. It's still scanning from 12/26. It will eventually come back with results, but that's insane.
