Attempting to install SP1 on a 2008 R2 Standard server. Fails.

SFC was clean
SURT was clean

Not positive, but think this may be the relevant line from the CBS.log:

Failed to find file: amd64_microsoft-windows-t..extensions-binaries_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.21907_none_0264a4fb0f9b0e60\rdpcorekmts.dll [HRESULT = 0x80070002 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND]

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 2008 R2 - 0x80070002 when installing SP1

Should I go ahead and try to update again?

1. Start Windows Explorer, and then locate the %SystemRoot%\Inf folder

2. Right-click the Usbstor.inffile, and then click Properties

3. Click the Security tab

4. Under the Group or user names list, give full permission to SYSTEM and Administrators

5. Click Ok

Repeat step 1 - 5 for Usbstor.pnf file.

6. Reboot the computer once and then try installing Sp1

Both files are already set as requested. No changes necessary. Both inheriting from a parent folder. It may take me a bit to find a good reboot time, if you still want that to happen.
