Hi,

I have a Windows 2008 R2 server that is refusing to update IE to version 11.

It currently has all other updates installed and is on IE version 9. I have tried resetting Windows updates and using the offline installer for IE11, but every time it errors with "Internet Explorer did not finish installing". If I install via Control Panel it errors with code 80244019.

I have also tried uninstalling IE9 as this is the fix according to lots of posts, but that fails too. Btw all drivers are up-to-date.

My CBS file can be found here - http://tiny.cc/rn9vqy

And the results of the SFCFix are below:

SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2018-02-05 01:07:26.973
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 - amd64

I notice that the CheckSUR log includes the following errors but I'm not sure how to fix these:

Hello and welcome!

Your link appears to be dead. Please provide a fresh one.

Also, attempt to upgrade to IE11 again, and after the install fails, attach CBS.log and c:\windows\IE_Main.log

Hi,

Sorry about that, please try this one - https://1drv.ms/f/s!AiR1iP2ZcP3pg7MrYxdbceWCbra1Cg

As requested I have re-run the upgrade and uploaded the CBS and IE_Main logs.

Many thanks

Re: IE11 Refusing to Install on Server 2008 R2 Standard

Hello, would you please run SFC Scan and provide CBS.log? Thanks.

Hi,

Did you mean just run scf /scannow? If so I ran that and it didn't report any integrity violations. I have uploaded the CBS.log at that stage and called it "CBS1.log"

In case you meant run through all the operations again, I next ran dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth which gave "error 87 - the restorehealth option is not recognised in this context". I have also uploaded the resulting DISM.log

Next I ran the SFCFix which reported "some detected corruptions could not be repaired..." I have uploaded the full CBS folder with the resulting log files and called it "CBS2.zip"

If you need me to do anything else let me know.

Many thanks

Hi,
According to the following powershell command there is only en-US installed

$OS = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_OperatingSystem
$LangPacks = $OSInfo.MUILanguages

Re: IE11 Refusing to Install on Server 2008 R2 Standard

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload toa file sharing service and just provide the link here.

View attachment CheckSUR.log
Please run System Update Readiness Tool once again and attach CheckSUR.log

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have run the System Update Readiness Tool again and uploaded the DSM.zip to the same location as before - https://1drv.ms/f/s!AiR1iP2ZcP3pg7MrYxdbceWCbra1Cg

It is still coming up with "error 87. The restorehealth option is not recognized in this context" when I run DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

The CheckSUR log is attached as requested
